Is Barack Obama a "progressive"?

Before you respond in the negative, please tell us what you think a "progressive" is?

Does a "progressive" believe in progress??

Has Barack Obama made any "progress" since he was sworn into office?

Although we may disagree with just how much "progress" he has made, it is hard to deny that he has not made some progress.

Many had much higher expectations of this President and they saw this time in history as an opportunity to make the changes that needed to be made. The "progress" should have been much larger in scope.

But, even with the perceived small steps forward by this President, we have to admit they have been steps forward and not backward.

That, by definition, is a progressive.

I suppose if unemployment hovering near 10% is progress then he is doing a great job.
Insurance premiums are rising, more progress.
Costs of doing business increasing and getting passed on to the consumer even more progress.
Yay Obama!!11111

Now to answer the question kentuck posed yes Obama is a progressive. If progressive is defined as Glen beck defines them. That definition being synonymous with socialist. According to latest polls 55% of the people now agree with us right wing kooks on this now.

Progressives should really be called Regressives, to progress is to move forward in a positive way, Progressivism is to move forward in a negative way.

All depends on how progress is defined. Now if their goal is to make us a socialist country then they are making progress. But, us right thinking folks think of it as regression.

That's an awful broad definition.  By that "logic," a POTUS that sealed the border, lowered taxes, lessened the influence of the Federal gov't in favor of States rights, and held to a strict intrepretation of the US Constitution would be taking steps forward and not backward IMO, ergo that POTUS would be a progressive.

Of course, the kentuck primitive considers the US gov't inching towards a totalitarian dictatorship to be moving forward, and therefore progressive, which is more in line with the true defintion.  Like several of the 99% Dear Leader worshippers, he's just upset it isn't happening faster.

I'm progressive as hell. Shrinking government, cutting taxes, increasing personal freedoms, making America more business-friendly, dumping DUers in the middle of the ocean, that's real progress.
