Mother of two set to be stoned to death
Islam, the religion of lunatics.
A veteran Iranian human rights activist has warned that Sakineh Mohammadie Ashtiani, a mother of two, could be stoned to death at any moment under the terms of a death sentence handed down by Iranian authorities.
Only an international campaign designed to pressure the regime in Tehran can save her life, according to Mina Ahadi, head of the International Committee Against Stoning and the Death Penalty.
"Legally it's all over," Ahadi said Sunday. "It's a done deal. Sakineh can be stoned at any minute."
"That is why we have decided to start a very broad, international public movement. Only that can help."
Ashtiani, 42, will be buried up to her chest, according to an Amnesty International report citing the Iranian penal code. The stones that will be hurled at her will be large enough to cause pain but not so large as to kill her immediately.

If fundamentalist Christians took over our government, as they are trying to do, stoning of people to death would be the norm. They would also execute gays like in some Middle Eastern countries. The US would become just as oppressive as all the other theocracies in the world, or even more so. We have seen the religious intolerance manifest itself in all kinds of ways here in the US. I truly see it as a very real threat to our continued existence as a country.
Places like the right wing Liberty University, Jerry Falwell's creation, spit out one religious fanatic after another. They even let Glenn Beck speak at their commencement even though Beck makes his living violating the 9th Commandment, 'thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor'. No one at Liberty sees a problem with a pathological liar like Beck speaking to them. That says a lot about their lack of character and their fanaticism.
The goal of Liberty U and other right wing 'universities' is to fill as many high level government positions as possible so they can force their mutant religious beliefs on everyone else. They would especially love to fill judgeships around the country so they can determine the law as defined by their interpretation of the Bible, and not the Constitution.
They are dangerous and a growing threat to our country.

What I have a problem with are fundamentalist extremists in any religion. I consider them all dangerous. When any group becomes fanatical they lose touch with reality, whether they are Christian, Muslim, Hindu or whatever. Christian fundamentalists would love to control the US government so they can force everyone else to succumb to their religious beliefs. Christian fanatics believe any means are justifiable to get to an end, as when they have killed many doctors performing legal abortions. And Christian extremists look at the murderers of these doctors as heroes, not killers. They actually think they are acting in the name of 'god'. Al Qaeda members also do their evil deeds 'in the name of god' too.
I believe there are good people everywhere in the world regardless of their faith or if they have no faith. No one needs religion to be a good person. And a person can be very spiritual without even hearing about religion, and a person can be very religious and not be in touch with their spirituality. Religions can be forces of great good, but also forces of great evil.

Do some research on those institutions. That is their goal. They want to fill as many government positions so they can overturn Roe v Wade, pass oppressive laws against lesbians or gays, and change other laws to suit their religious agendas. They want forced 'Christian' prayers in all schools. They want to make it illegal to live certain lifestyles. This IS real. Do you want a group of people with Taliban-like mentality scattered throughout our government?
Look at what's going on in Texas right now because of religious fanaticism. If fundamentalist Christians had their way those same oppressive laws would be national laws and the US would look more like a religious dominated Middle East country. The OP talks about a couple being stoned to death. We would have identical or even more horrendous punishments if fundamentalist christians controlled our government.
It's real and it's dangerous...
