I'm told by the post-racial candidate that race is suddenly very important.

I have recently been informed that the black community is nought but raving, racist lunatics possessed of unfounded conspiracies such as the US government importing drugs to snare hapless blacks into 3 felon strikes and inventing AIDS in a form of biological warfare inspired eugenics (apparently blacks are helpless to avoid the temptations of illicit sex and drugs, the poor dears). It must be the sole representation of the black community because the young man informing of these facts has been unable to secure for himself and his wife and children any other form of Christian-based congregation...and a white--or Heaven forfend--a multi-racial Christian congregation just won't fill the bill.

It seems America has healing to do. I'll be the first to readily admit America has its sins with those of European descent bearing the lion's share of the guilt burden. Even today we are not perfect but at least we aren't running about slaughtering each other like so many disjointed groups to be found in Liberia, the Congo, Ethipoia, the Sudan (not that this should be presumed to imply anything). But we have stopped importing African slaves (unlike those poor, innocent Arabs we allegedly keep oppressing with our bombs).

I will leave aside for a moment that virtually no one alive today was responsible for slavery or Jim Crowe nor suffered under their tyrannies and if any tried to resurrect these offenses both law and public outrage would crush them swiftly and mercilessly. I shall simply grant the premise that a typical white bunny has a debt to pay.

I will also ignore the 40-plus percent coming out of my paychecks for welfare, public schools, college grants, small business loan guarantees, Affirmative Action enforcement etc. This state of affairs must simply represent the status quo but the black community lacks the prowess to the actually obtain the status with which to quo under its own power such is the powers of a typical white bunny generations after the fact.

OK, fine; let us have the thing out.

What is it that the black community requires of a typical white bunny? What monies, programs, education and whatnot are you lacking? Since you are obviously so helpless when left to your own affairs I shall take you by the hand and lead you about from place to place until you arrive at where it is you think you need to be. I shall do whatever it is that you ask to settle the matter for all time so that at the end of the day I may pat you on the head and tell you what a fine fellow you are and you can rejoice that we are finally friends and equal citizens.

cool post.  I agree with the spirit of your words, if perhaps not every detail.

instead of continually prostrating ourselves over the deep sin of slavery, why not celebrate western
civilization for being the moral force behind it's eradication?  as a country, we fought a long and bloody
civil war designed to end the immoral institution of slavery.  i believe that we have paid the price.

in my view, the prospect that a significant portion of the african american population thinks exactly what
rev. wright said to be deeply, deeply disappointing.  almost fatally defeating.  what more could a social
order possibly do to make amends?  set asides, affirmative action, preferential hiring, a freaking library
full of federal civil rights law.  while there may be no excuse, there can be no question that this country
has tied itself into knots, and turned logic on it's head, to try to correct such a grave wrong.

I also don't understand how rev. wrights words followed by obama's speech have suddenly become a
problem for white bunnies and excesses.   we were all sitting in our rabbit hole, or local dive bar, eating
carrots and drinking beer, and we got slimed by this alleged moral leader.  how the hell did this boomerang
on white bunnies and excesses?

It is easier to name your kids Laquisha Laquana, don kashikis and worship a noble past that never existed.  There is not an black-run African country today that isn't a hell-hole of tribal killing.

One would think that a man seeking to affix the title "reverend" in front of his name would see that in the Bible slavery comes in two themes: punishment (Egypt, Babylon, etc.) or to spiritually reach the master (Joseph, Daniel, etc).
