Where's my "Chill the f*ck out, I got this!" & "...so I know whose ass to kick" President?

Tonight I got the "NASA scientists have confirmed the asteroid's path and the cameras will now cut to a waving American flag while 'Amazing Grace' is played on bagpipes in the background." President.

Every time I watch tonight's speech I become a little more puzzled.

Any speech which wraps up with “Even if we're unsure exactly what that looks like. Even if we don't yet know precisely how to get there. We know we'll get there.” should be shot by the secret service, the typewriter that typed it tossed into the Potomac, and the speechwriter shown both of the preceding events to encourage them to do better.

nothing particularly special about this thread, it just seem to embody a lot of my confusion about our dear little dummys (plus i have never seen such dumping on lord zero since i have been reading du.)

they seem to be divided into several camps about the speech...

* those that expected zero to go all "jfk" and announce "we will achieve independence from oil by the end of the decade."  these people were disappointed.
* those that expected zero to go all "stalin" and announce "we will seize all assets of bp and pass them out to the people." these people were disappointed.
* those that expected zero to go all "reagan" and announce "i am actually going to kick some ass here, not just talk about it." these people were disappointed.

and finally

* those that "know" zero was only addressing the great unwashed in this speech.  and that the super-intelligent true dummy would understand the "nothingness" of the speech for the brilliant zen-like chess move it was.  even these people know that this spin is bullshit, so they are disappointed too.

in short, all of dummyland is disappointed with zero this morning.  a true first.

these people didn't know who they were voting for, aside from the fact he was black and had a "d" after his name.  i can understand that part.  their minds are so child-like and what child wouldn't fall for hope, change and a magic negro?

yet after all of these months they still haven't opened their eyes about who their president truly is.  they go to bed each night dreaming of this kick-ass, superhero, bright and shiny president, only to awake to a steaming pile of zero each day.

is it any wonder so many of them are on medication?

I'm still a little stunned myself that he mentioned "prayer" and "God" so much...

I envisioned little DUmmie heads exploding all over the country..... :uhsure:

I swear that my local dog catcher could do a better job...well he can't bob his head back and forth reading the teleprompter like the bamster.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

that was pretty funny in the du thread commenting on speech last night.  to paraphrase:

obama:    "bla, bla, bla, bla..."
dummys:  yay obama!

obama:    "bla, bla, bla, bla..."
dummys:  yay obama!

obama:    "bla, prayer, God, bla, bla..."
dummys:  wait... what?

dummys:   boo obama!  boo obama!

He invokes that in which he does not believe. Very offensive, even to this atheist.

Yeah, I had a bit of an issue with that too. I was offended and thought how incredibly phony.

I'm not going to preach my faith to you, as I do respect you the right to be an atheist, but neither will I accept mockery/derision from you. (not you personally)

Watching him say what he did....it just made me feel like he was sucking up to me by using my faith in God, but that he no more believed what he was saying than if he had said the world was flat. Did he really think I am that stupid as to believe he was sincere?

Sadly, he does....

Does that make sense?

16. I remember too. It was during the Democratic convention in 2004
I remember thinking at the time, this man could be President some day. However, since he's been in office, he seems to have been neutered. He had our support to change many of the things he spoke about during his campaign. Then he surrounded himself with Washington insiders and what I think are questionable advisers; who have convinced him to be a consolatory President. Avoiding confrontation, always giving away too much when attempting to compromise. I guess I was naive to think he wasn't a corporate Democrat. I thought him being a black man, that he would be able to empathize with the common people. It appears more and more that I thought wrong. I still think he's a good man. I just don't like the way he settles for scraps for the people when he has the power and support to fill our plates.

Maybe TPTB got to him? Maybe they got dirt on him from somewhere or they've threatened to assassinate him if he doesn't maintain the status quo? I don't know, I'm just terribly disappointed in how things are working out.

The speech wasn't that surprising to me.  I knew Obama would be using the oil leak as democrats use every crisis, either real or imagined. As an opportunity to plunder.

Imagine Obama as a Fire Marshall and an apartment building is blazing downtown. The fire department is having great difficulty containing the out of control conflagration and more equipment and manpower is needed desperately. Unfortunately, Fire Marshall Obama's first order of business is to evacuate all buildings in the city because of the potential for this to happen to them as well. Sometime later, he appears on the local news and discuss the need for updated fire codes. The next day he has a meeting with the landlords and building owners demanding payment into a fund that will be "administered independently " to the people hurt by this ongoing fire. ( Just so happens that the person who will be in charge of this account just so happens to work in the Fire Marshall's office.)

All the while the fire continues to burn and grows larger. The fire crews on the scene cry out for help but it doesn't matter to Fire Marshall Obama. He has to meet with City Council next week to push for his new fire codes which incidentally, will provide even more power and money for his office. Now, if the fire is put out then City Council might not have the desire to pass the law that the Fire Marshall wants so it has to remain in the news coverage. It must burn and provide the potential for widespread damage.

This is the way that democrats operate. Every crisis is to be exploited to the upmost for shakedowns and graft. If you look at this administration's seemingly perplexing actions regarding this spill, they are doing exactly what is required in their minds to gain from it.

59. Our President has had more on his plate than any president
since FDR. He's been in office 1 1/2 years and people expect him to have already cured all of the ills left by Bush/Cheney PLUS everything that's happened since (BP oil spill). IMO, he's done an amazing job. For one he's prevented another real depression and too many other things to list. Because there aren't anyI hope he doesn't run in 2012 - this country doesn't deserve him and he could be living an awesome life. He went into this with the best of intentions, to help this f up'd county. I don't think he had any idea what a nightmare this would be. For him and his family's sake, I truly hope he doesn't run again.

Lindsey? Mr Graham is that you?

You know, it looks like the Democrat convention of 2012 is going to be worth watching.....fights, riots, protest....all manner of contact sports.... :-)
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

That "I got this" photo should have come with a barf bag. But through hope and change, it now brings laughter, knowing the photo only lasted as long as there were no decisions to be made.
