Every Cloud has a silver lining.. even the oil spill in the gulf

Corporations cannot be trusted to police anything.

Apparently, there was supposed to be some kind of capping device that would come into play if such a disaster happened.

From what I have read so far.. BP did not have that on the rig that toppled, or it completely failed.

If this is what it takes to wake up those who are tuned into right wing media 24/7 with its drill baby drill mantra.. (you wonder why the republicans are being a little quiet right now, and not taking advantage of this? not me, they are up to their ears in this)

I am glad to see the President step back and do a rethink on drilling off shore.

Because these corporations cannot be trusted to do what they say they will do.

God only knows how this is going to be cleaned up.. I hope we are not going to see a Valdez type of scenario..

But I think congress needs to have hearings and put some people on the spot.

They did it with Toyota.. Big Oil, next in line.

 :whatever:

Sometimes, you want to stab them in the face with a hammer . . . yeah, it applies here, too.

They better get the hearings done before November, while they still have enough Dims in Washington to hold a meeting....

After November, there won't be enough to hold hands....

I think this sentiment can be applied to most of their posts . . .

Anyone else think the timing of this disaster is a little odd. After healthcare, next on the agenda for congress was energy/cap and trade. What happens? A major mine disaster in West Virginia.  Obama comes out in support of offshore drilling and days later, a oil rig blows up and goes down.

I don't wear the tin foil hat often but these events perfectly drive the agenda of what the commies want to get done next. Free soundbites provided in TV coverage to square up perfectly with the upcoming legislation.

I still trust "evil corporations" one hundred million times more than I trust evil government.  What we need is an auxiliary congress made up of real businessmen seated just to police the US congress and the White House.  We need hearings toot-sweet.

You Lie. Even Gibbs said that "accidents happen" and that The One is still committed to ofsshore drilling.

Suspicious? YES.  What's with Obama sending SWAT teams to all the other rigs in the area?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The SWAT teams are to silence the ELF terrorists that Obama hired to do the job.

I first heard Rush mentioning that and I thought ok he was joking like he does sometimes where he exaggerates to make a point. Then on the news break they mentioned the swat teams I was dumbfounded.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.
