The Dems need to tell the Rethugs to "**** off."
If you've watched any of this morning's bullshit, you must be aware that it's nothing more than show biz.
Nothing useful is going to come out of this.
The majority of Americans aren't watching.
The ReThugs are getting TV face time they don't deserve.
If one more Dem says "My friend" to (some Rethug) I'm going to puke.
The Dems have a majority. Why don't they just do what the Thugs have been doing for the past 30 years? Why don't they just tell the ReThugs to go the **** away?
The Thugs will never agree to anything the Dems want. It's past time for the Dems to take names, kick ass and tell the Thugs to "GO THE **** AWAY."
President Obama, WAKE UP! These people are out to destroy you and the Democratic Party. You're in a war. FIGHT!

1. Oh, snap!
Obama just told McCain "We're not campaigning anymore, John. The election is over".
A great "**** Off" if I ever heard one!

2. It's a real soap opera alright
The Dems keep bending over to pick up the metaphorical bar of soap, and the GOP keeps screwing 'em in the A$$ every time.
It's beginning to feel like some kind of bizarre exercise in infinity.

3. Sure, tell the Repubs to go away - big deal
it won't do any good until you convince the moderate Dems and their voters to jump on board.

4. You really think the Democratic leadership wants real reform?
You really think it's the Republicans that have stopped meaningful reform? At this point I have seen nothing to indicate this to be the case.

5. People seem to have forgotten the power of the presidency.
Dems don't want to play? Okay. Your state is cut off. No government contracts coming your way. No goodies that the federal government has to hand out are coming your way.
How do you think every president in recent history has made members of his own party fall in line? Call it arm twisting, or blackmail. It goes with the job of being president.
If Obama doesn't want to play hardball, there's an old saying that applies to power: "Use it or lose it."
Oscar Wilde obviously doesn't seem to see a problem here.
"No goodies that the federal government has to hand out....."
Does this mean the taxpayers from that state don't have to pay for them, too?
I don't think Oscar Wilde's thought this thing all the way through.

6. The Repug party has become an embarrassing joke compared to the party of my youth. I have never agreed with repugs on the big issues, but what is in Washington now is a shadow of what that party used to be pre-neocon.
On the one hand, what a shame. On the other hand, good for us!! They're idiots and clowns, which only helps us.

8. I agree, but the majority of Americans haven't yet "gotten it," still don't and probably never will.
Most people don't pay much attention to politics. And this means that the Republican controlled media, (which is the majority of the media), can repeat and repeat and repeat their talking points. That's what most people hear, believe and repeat.
And that media is owned by corporate America. Most people don't understand that either.
Until we can rein in corporate America, (more easily said than done), and establish a real "news" industry once again, nothing will change.
Given the current circumstances, the Republicans will regain control of the congress this year. And every aware, sane person should be terrified by that.

7. This is a dog and pony show put on TV to pretend that the real fight is between 2 parties with different names and mascots, when it is in fact it has only been a struggle between 2 sides of the Democratic party. One side would like something that could, with a stretch, be called legitimate health care reform, and the other side, which is the Obama-Baucus-Emanuel gang, that will settle for nothing less than an insurance industry bonanza.

11. Are you saying Obama can't count votes?
Regardless of what you think about Obama, he doesn't want to be a one-term president. And if he doesn't come up with a (somewhat) meaningful health care plan, that's exactly what he will be.
As far as Rahm Emanuel is concerned, he's history. My bet is he'll be gone in a matter of weeks. Too many people are onto him and he's a liability to Obama.
But back to Obama. Regardless of whether he's a right-of-center Dem or not, he's going to have to deliver something meaningful or kiss a second term goodbye. He's well aware that if the Democratic base sits out this year's election, the Dem majority is gone -- and so is he in 2012.
Believe what you like about him, but my belief is that he's going to start moving left pretty soon and pretty quickly. He's not a fool.
Go Bo, be a fool, and move further left. The further, the better.

The only way DLC/NDC move is to the right.

16. As I said, Obama is no fool. He can read the writing on the wall.
He's got two choices: Start moving left, or start packing.
My guess is that the DLC is on it's way to becoming history. Younger voters are more liberal than older ones and they were key in putting Obama into office.
To repeat -- he's no fool. He is, however, a politician. And if moving left is what it takes for a second term, what do you think he's going to do?

18. He has been following DLC policies ever since he was elected.
Nothing in his actions has indicated that he'll do otherwise.

17. What a silly thing to say. He can count fine- in any denomination, too.
Intelligence and motivation have nothing to do with each other. Obama has said he's fine with being a one term President and on that point I believe him. He'll be set for life, regardless. Continuing the wars and bank bailouts has seen to that. And there's still Social Security out there begging for a bipartisan "solution". At the moment, he and his bunch are engaged in a game of chicken against the few remaining Democrats in the party. "Accept this insurance giveaway, or I'll take you all down with me - and you in the House will go down long before me."
The House is the side that's facing extinction, not Obama. Pass nothing and voter rejection of "Democratic impotence" will mow a broad swathe through the House. But the only thing they'll be allowed to pass by Obama and his insurance allies in the Senate is the healthcare equivalent of the bank bailouts. And even if the public comes to realize just how bad the insurance bonanza bill is, and Obama becomes very unpopular, he can still hope the Republican Party vote in 2012 will be split by 3rd party candidacy from the fundamentalist-teabag crazies.
Don't cry for Obama. He's got the best insurance there is - huge financial interests behind him and a split opposition in front of him.

14. People respond to fear.
Talk to people. Tell them that Republicans want to kill Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the minimum wage, unemployment insurance and each and every government program that benefits (what's left of) the middle class.
Not only is it a principled argument, but it's true.
Today's Democratic Party is but a mere shadow of what they once were and I really find it hard to defend them. Nonetheless, they're better than the alternative.
Yeah, yeah. We'll see.
