An observation about the arguments against Nuclear Power Plants

There is a sizable minority of people who are dead set agains the expansion of our nuclear power industry. They are vocal. This is what I have noticed about them. They use the exact same scare taticts to fight building new plants that the Republican Party uses to advance its objectives.

They are as dishonest in their arguments as most zealots, its just irresponsible fear mongering.

Good old Thom to the rescue.  :whatever:

Do you think Obama misunderstood "going nuclear" could have applied to Congress pushing through his legislation and not building power plants ?

This seemed to come out of nowhere as I always thought he was against all things nuclear like a good little lefty?

His EPA is going to drag its feet on this. It could be decades before they get built, if ever. Meanwhile he wants to shut down the coal power plants that provide most of our electricity.

You nailed it.

Before this morning, Skins's island was violently anti-nuclear power.

Never mind that BO has already cut funding for Yucca Mountain and all the waste will now have to be stored locally.

The greenies will love that.

DU may have officially, but this should prove to be a huge wedge issue inside the true-blue moonbat Left.  Maybe even a Hugh! issue.

It's nothing. The jug-eared muslim is trying, in his bumbling, incompetent manner, to copy Slick Willie's "triangulation" strategy. He knows there are enough anti-American socialists in the Congresss to prevent this initiative from going anywhere, and he knows the socialists will have no one but him to vote for in 2012. If he can give an appearance of being reasonable with this pro-nuke act, he will pick off a lot of stupid independent voters, the people who elected him, and the only group on earth DUmber than DUmmies.

Exactly.  He knows that Carol Browner and her envirowhackos at the EPA will never allow the plants to be built.

Au contraire, I think that despite the transparency of this shell game to the politically sophisticated (Or even the just non-ignorant), there is a great probability that the same 2-5% percent of idiot Democrats who would be stupid enough to ever consider voting for Nader will mistakenly take this as actually meaning something serious in principle and abandon the Great One.

DAT, I hope that you're right and I'm wrong.  Somehow, I don't think so, though.

Remember I'm only talking about a sliver, about 1-2% of the electorate, here, but that can matter a lot as it did in 2000.  Of course it's possible the Tea Partiers may do the same thing to the GOP, only bigger.

If he keeps up the Slick Willie act, he will lose a sliver of moonbats, as you suggest. So did Slick Willie. But he'll pick up far more independents, who are much dumber than most democrats.

If democrat party any sense, they will start pouring money under the table into the tea party nonsense. They could unwittingly be the most powerful force the socialists can muster to defeat Republicans and keep the muslim's team in office.

Obutthead's just trying to win over some Republicans and moderate Dems on climate legislation.  It'll be tied to emissions standards.

I have to say that the one bright spot in Obama's election is that McCain would've tried to go just as stupid on the environment/climate bullshit, and we would have had to revolt against our own (Nominal) side, it's better that Obozo & Friends take the rap on this one.
