Many Thanks For All The Kind And Encouraging Words, Ladies And Gentlemen!

It was a great pleasure to read the print-outs of the many comments made over my surgery. It cheered me up a good deal, in very difficult circumstances. I have been home from the hospital almost a week now, and am feeling at least somewhat on the mend, or at least a bit more of a human than a wound. My energy level is still very low, and movement of most any sort sufficiently unpleasant to be undertaken only after thorough consideration, but even this is a great improvement, and the professionals seem happy with my progress.

The surgery went off well, though I am told that I came up from the anesthesia much more quickly than expected and made a fair stab at pulling various tubes out of my body, so that they had to put me under again very quickly. I remember none of this, but when I came to for the second time several hours later, there were several people hovering very closely, and my arms were immobilized. That first night was fairly grim, but a nurse made the mistake of coming too close with a pen in her hand, which I snatched from her and held, making it clear the pen would not be surrendered till I had the opportunity to write out some questions. Communication improved things enormously.

Sleep proved almost impossible in the hospital after the surgery; I sleep prone, not supine, and any normal posture for sleep was out of the question. After several days, seeing things that were not there was pretty routine; my fields of peripheral vision were very lively places. Our black and white cat made several visits, mostly on the windowsill, and the room sometimes took on a sense of stately rotation. By now, fortunately, I am able at least to lay on my side, and this allows sleep in two hour bursts, repeated several times over the course of the day.

Things can pretty much only get better from here, I suppose. I will be back actively when more fit, and lurking certainly now and again.

I thank you all again for good wishes and thoughts and kind support: it means a lot to me!

Well, it's good to see the magisterial one, who is somewhat older than franksolich, being so positive and upbeat for recovery.

"Attitude" always helps.

As compared with, say, Fat Che's little brother, the Fat Che's Little Brothert beer primitive, who whined and bitched and moaned while in the hospital to have his rectal aperture unexpanded.

I'll bet the magisterial one's further along in recovery than Fat Che's little brother.

I have noticed that Demoral for pain will cause even a moderate drinker to SEE things.

A family member did the same. A drink with dinner and one or two on the weekends after 30 some odd years caused him to watch lobsters climbing up the wall after the injection. That was the explanation given to us who visited the Hospital as it was disturbing to hear him shout we had to raise or feet up as a lobster was headed our way.

With any luck at my next hospital visit I will have the Chippen Dales climbing MY walls.

How eco-evil of him!  Killing all of those poor innocent trees just because he can't wait to get affirmation back from his adoring fans.  Can't he wait until he has a computer available to check in on his fans?
