Well, at least it wasn't a tank.  Just FYI bijou, it wouldn't be exceptional to see one drive off post at Stewart, military units use them for part of their local official-duty transportation needs on Army posts in the US, and once you are off the main post into the range area at Stewart you are on county highways that cut through the whole maneuver area both north-south and east-west.  The post is not terribly far from Florida via the nearby interstate highway.  The Humvees are street legal, just not really built for the high speed autobahn-type driving a jaunt on our interstate highways would normally involve.
