 a conservative is someone who defends the status quo.

Stick to this definition - its actual, technical definition - and "conservative" and "liberal" break out in very interesting ways.

As we have found with our guest DUmpmonkliez, the definition of the words change when you want them too.

 They want to go back in time. They are convinced that the days of slavery and barefoot and pregnant women were the greatest times ever.

You don’t like children (screw them they don’t vote)--Wrong, I like children.  That is why I oppose killing babies in the womb and support charter schools to allow disadvantaged children the chance to go to a good school.  In fact, I spend a good amount of my free time knitting items for impoverished children around the world.

You don’t like the poor (screw them they don’t vote)--I believe in helping the poor become successful.  I support helping with immediate needs (food, water, clothing) and I support programs to help them get out of poverty.  However, I strongly believe that private organization do a much more effective job than the government could ever do.

You don’t like the elderly (screw them they are unproductive and wasteful)--My grandparents and I actually agree on 90% of our political views.  I really enjoy visiting with the elderly ladies at my church, some of them have the most facinating stories.  I believe that every life is valuable, and should be protected until God calls them home.  this is why I oppose Euthanasia

You don’t like the infirmed elderly (screw then they don’t vote)--My cousins' grandfather is very ill at the moment.  What I said above applies here.

You don’t like students ( keep them stupid so they will vote Republican)--Nope, I don't think we have an effective public school system.  I believe that the democrats are holding our children down by denying them a good education.  See my note on charter schools above.  

You hate unions--Okay, this one might be true.  

You don’t like minorities ( screw them not enough vote)--I have no problem with minorities.  I do have a problem with the "soft racism of low expectations."  I believe that minorities are as capable as any white person.

You don’t like legal immigrants ( screw them they don’t vote)--My job involves helping legal immigrants come and work in the US.  Try again.

You love profiteering from public service--I don't get this one.   When I volunteer, I do so with no expectation of reimbursement.  

You love the very wealthy and cannot do enough for them--Honestly, I don't know many that are genuinely "very wealthy", but I know a lot of people the DUmmies would consider very wealthy, and every one of them worked their way to where they are.

You worship big business--I understand that Big Business equals Big Employment

You love to tear down years of Progress and smile as you slash and burn yelling “No Pain-No gain”.--I believe that you and I disagree on the definition of "progress"

You love, with a passion, the opportunity to transfer wealth from hard working middle class to those who will never spend their wealth but just keep yelling ”More-More-More-give us more and we will never be satisfied until we are like Haiti where 5% own 95 % of the wealth.--Umm, considering that I, and most of the people I know, are middle class, I don't think so.  I would actually like them to be able to keep a much higher percentage of what they earn.

You hate Social Security (but love to get it)--It is going broke, if it isn't already.  It worked in the beginning, but something needs to change now.

You hate Medicaid--I have no problem with helping the genuinely needy get healthcare, but it is an inefficient program.  Lets reform it to ensure that those on it should be on it and to ensure that it is funded appropriately from the appropriate sources.

You love world’s largest rich man’s gambling casino-Wall Street-I think Wall Street is largely full of crap.

You love to kill Mommie’s by denying abortion that will save her life--I think less that .5% of abortions are because of a risk to the mother's life, and I've never met anybody who opposed abortion under those circumstances.  I can only imagine that that would be the hardest choice a woman could ever make, and I'm sure in most cases, women do whatever they can to get the baby as close to full term as possible to allow for the possibility of a C section delivery.  Most abortions are not medically necessary.
