Happiest States Are Conservative States
« on: December 18, 2009, 11:22:15 AM »
Quote
Researchers from the University of Warwick and Hamilton College have listed the 50 states and DC in order of the happiness of people who live there. The top 1O:

1. Louisiana
2. Hawaii
3. Florida
4. Tennessee
5. Arizona
6. Mississippi
7. Montana
8. South Carolina
9. Alabama
10. Maine
I count two minor blue states, a purple state that the ObamaCare debacle will quickly drive back to red (Florida), and seven solid red ones.

The bottom 10

 42. Rhode Island

  44. Ohio
  45. Illinois
  46. California
  47. Indiana
  48. Michigan
  49. New Jersey
  50. Connecticut
  51. New York
LiveScience has the whole list.

New York is 51 because DC was included in the poll.

Well, with New Jersey being 49th, that explains the nocturnally foul one here.

Didn't he say 57 states visited, two he did not, NOT including Hawaii ?? That would make it 60 states.........Mexico might make  8-9-10 states, ya think? But they'd not necessarily vote "D", as they are Right to life Catholics after all.....

Louisiana is first in something that is good. We are moving up. :-)

Liberals see themselves as superior. Looks like all those high taxes and run away spending has caught up with those blue states. CA, NY and most of the northeastern states are in severe financial crisis. To top it off, many of the rich from those states are hauling ass and moving to more friendly tax states.

What is kind of funny, is that I think I just recently saw a poll where most of the top ten were on a top ten for bad eating/obesity.

Better weather, lower taxes, fewer gun laws, lower cost of living, etc. You can not beat that with a stick. Plus, if you shoot someone that breaks into your home or auto, the police give you a medal rather than arrest you.

Florida went blue last election... :(

But we're still state tax-less. :-) and pretty conservative (if you don't count Miami and Broward County)

Also, the entrance of the Florida Turnpike has a billboard that something like..."Property owner have the right to carry guns"

We have a sign here "property owners have no rights.."

or at least we should.

New Jersey at #49 doesn't surprise at all. Cost of living here is awful, but much better than New York.

I wonder if the underlying data for NY differentiated between NYC and upstate?

If Guam and the Virgin Islands were included, I could see NY going to #53.  With the totally clueless governor, and the stoopid state legislature, my state will be the bedrock of that poll for years to come. :banghead:
