My mom
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:39:30 AM »
I am writting this with such a heavy heart I am asking for prayers for my mom. She was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 2 months ago. The doctor's thought they had gotten it all out but then when she went in for a MRI they found more 2 weeks ago. Today she went in for them to remove the spots that the MRI picked up. While she was in the recovery room she turned blue and her heart stopped 3 differant times. I am so very worried and my dad says it does not look good. I just don't know what her future is going to hold but I am worried for her and she is stubborn to the point of bull headness and refuses any chemo till after the Christmas season she says she doesn't want the grandkids to see her sick. Any prayers or words I can give her would greatly be appreciated

Praying for wisdom for your mom, and peace for those that love her.   We mothers sometimes forget how important we are to our people, I hope she remembers.

Prayers for your mom and her family and friends.

It is so hard to know the right thing to do and what choices to make in these situations.....for the patient and the family. Chemo is never pretty and most people are aware of the side effects that happen....particularly at your mom's age as I'm sure she's had friends that have had it. It's tough to willingly subject yourself to it...doesn't mean that she won't do it....it's just very difficult to take that first step.

I understand how she would be reluctant to do it right before the holidays....especially as it's possible her doctor may not want her around children during treatment...as her immune system will be greatly compromised and children are little walking germ factories.

All you can do is be supportive, let her know how much you love her and need her in your lives.....and have faith that her doctor will guide her to make the best decisions for her.

I will be keeping your mom in my prayers as well. As Deb said, maybe the decision to delay the chemo will turn out to be a wise one. If she is stubborn to that point, she likely has an incredible will to live..... stay strong for her and your dad....

Thank you all I needed to hear that. I told her that whatever she decided to do that I will be here every step of the way even if she drives me insane most days

Cancer is something that happens to you that you have no control over...this may be her way of taking a very tiny bit of it back.  I say honor her wishes and I agree with Schade, she seems like a strong woman who will give it a good fight when she is ready.  Chemo is a bitch...but along with a positive outlook and supporting family...she has the odds in her favor.

Prayers to you and your family...
