Tuesday...almost T-day...
« on: November 24, 2009, 07:28:15 AM »
Don't know what possed me to take on a 1/2 day job at a primary school this afternoon, the last afternoon before a holiday, but I'm sure I shall survive.  Can't guarantee the little monkies will though.

Have one home sick today...hate trying to decide if he's sick enough to take to the Dr, or wait, and it always happens at holiday time.  He's got some sinus issues going on, and coughing, etc for the past 3 days or so.  Had a headache yesterday, ut went to school.  Started running a fever last night, and a headache again today.  Tylenol helped though.    Mr Flame will be coming home at lunchtime so I can go to work.

Looking forward to cooking the big dinner...don't really have anything to cook early, as my neighbor is doing the desserts, and everything else works better when cooked the same day.

No Black Friday shopping plans for me, but I'm going to meet my sister and her kids in Harrisonburg, VA on Saturday for lunch and conversation.

Played poker last night.  Won about $200.  Doing a "make-work" job today, and probably going to surf to the end of the Internet tomorrow.

Management is trying to "ease" us into taking X-Mas away, but a lot of us are already resigned to the fact that we're going to be here.  They don't have an official plan for how much support they think they want or need, but it seems to be increasing all the time--surprise, surprise.  Since I am sans family for now, I volunteered to be the relay guy on nights.

We'll see what happens.

Just today and a partial day tomorrow left  :cheersmate:  Lots of work, not enough time, typical stuff.

We got the details about our new health insurance yesterday.  Not terrible, but not as cheap as our current.  Overall, it is actually pretty good, but I've gotten spoiled  :p

Yeah, just got done with my open enrollment.  Bi-weekly deduction jumped nearly 50 percent.  Goodbye, payraise!

I administer Open Enrollments, and after my 12-15 hour days, am looking forward to the end, which is today.

Last full work day.  Tomorrow is an early one.  Thanksgiving will be uneventful, but I am going to see some friends in Fort Worth on Friday, and I am taking the train.  Which should be fun, and hopefully hassle free.
R.I.P. LC and Crockspot.  Miss you guys.

Gloomy out again today, but at least it hasn't yet gone into full-fledged rain....snow flurries predicted by the end of the week! :o

Running some errands this morning and the doing cleaning projects. Yesterday was the laundry room and cat closet. Today is the pantry.

Going to friends for Turkey Day. I'm making New Orleans corn pudding, green bean casserole and a brie. Haven't figured out if I'm doing the brie in puff pastry with a layer of pesto or fruit,  or if a new recipe I found with it in a round of sour dough with roasted garlic and rosemary. Haven't figured out what else. The husband's 96 yo mother is making the hard stuff - fried stuffing, gravy, twice baked potatoes, homemade rolls, sweet potato casserole and pecan pies!!!

Nanny is adorable and is more spry than some women in the 60's....let alone late 90's. She still lives alone, gardens, and will mow the lawn if the lawn guy doesn't show up when she thinks he should - and she uses an old push mower.     :o
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

The sourdough brie sounds yummy.  I never thought of that one before.

I paid $15 for a three-pound prime rib roast at Publix.  I have no idea what's going on at Publix, but it isn't advertised.  I took my $27 roast to the register and it takes 50% off... I swear I didn't do anything. :hyper:

Damn, its hot here.  I have all the windows open and the fan on but its still 75+ in here and that was before I turned the oven on.
