Documentary film seeks pro-consumption conservative
« on: November 16, 2009, 01:10:17 PM »
We are producing a documentary film on consumption in America, with particular focus on how resource consumption relates to our American heritage of liberty and freedom.  We explore the conflict between those who say Americans should reduce their resource consumption vs. those who say that asking us to reduce our consumption is a violation of our inherent American rights of liberty and individual freedom.

If you can speak about our inherent American right of more resources and our right to more stuff, we would like to possibly add your story/perspective to the debate.

Please send us some information: your name, age & general area of residence, as well as some insight into your story, your beliefs, your consumption habits, and how you would be a great fit for what we are looking for.

Thank you

Err....is this in the right forum?

Are you actually asking us to provide you with our personal information?

I think most would be happy to discuss this topic with you here on the board, but not in the context that you request......

YMMV

Troll alert! Troll alert! Troll alert!
Don't forget to include your SS#, address, date of birth, credit card #, and date of expiration, also that little verification number on the back of the card.
And thanks for helping with the documentary.

I absolutely loathe consumerism. In the bygone days, things we use were made to last. In today's world, they're made to be thrown away. While prices have come down, making things more affordable, we get "junk".  I value the Earth's resources and don't think that they should be arbitrarily wasted. Recycling, while it's intent is good, has a LONG way to go. Not enough stuff is being recycled. I'm pretty sure that the reason that's because  it's just not cost effective. Then there's the Capitalism aspect. Make stuff so it breaks or becomes useless more quickly and people have to buy another in order to replace it, wasting MORE resources.

As far as personal info, the best I'll give you is that I'm in my early 50s, retired from the US Navy and currently reside in Texas.

I remember those days too when things were built to last. I liked it.

I have a Freon refrigerator that's over 30 years old. It still runs.

My mom made and decorated cakes. I have a mixer that she had and used when I was growing up. While it's still up in Minnesota right now, it STILL works.

Conservatives are at least as interested as anyone else in using resources wisely and not wasting them, however we differ from the idiots Left in our judgment about the value of many green programs and ideas, assumptions, and relative value of human prosperity vs. preservation at all costs.

Come on guys! "Our inherent American right of more resources and our right to more stuff"! Can't you see that this douchenozzle is mocking conservatives? And you're trying to give him honest replies? I think "jferrera" could just as well be Doug's stupid ex-wife "eferrari".

I consume the flesh of 3 adult-sized liberals every week.

On holidays I tend to consume more brown people but lately Mexican food has been giving me gas and Italians are bad for my cholesterol level.
