Thank you, parents.
« on: October 31, 2009, 09:21:43 PM »
Just had six pre-teens show up trick-or-treating. First of the night.

Each one of them was polite, said "Thank you" and wished me either a "good night" or "happy halloween."

That's a dang rarity these days, so a huge "Thank you" to their parents....

Amen to that. It's time for me to brag, I have the most gentle-mannered and humble children and I couldn't be more proud. I do attribute their compassion and sensitivity to having a sibling with special needs... it somehow makes it not about them, but about others who are less fortunate. I do realize that "sounds" pie in the sky liberal, but one big difference, liberals often talk the talk, my kids walk the walk.

Ya know... not to turn this thread into a bitch-fest...

But I posted this on my spacebook page... And said in that post that "I like living in the country."

My uber-lib sister responds: "We had 10.  They all said "Thank you" too and "Happy Halloween" as well as the same from their parent.  And to think I live in the big, bad city."

And DELETES it... but not before spacebook sends me the notification email.  :lmao: :lmao: :rotf: :rotf:

:lmao: Hilarious. A couple times I have come across notification emails and think to myself... "OMG, they didn't, did they?"... only to find out that they came to their senses and deleted it from my wall. Just a question, is there a spacebook too? or is that a play on facebook?  :-) I can be very naive.

For some reason, I doubt any truth in that last sentence. ;) Buddy started calling Facebook "spacebook" a while ago. It seems fitting to me for some reason.

She's just an angry person. Hates that I've been (relatively) successful and that I "have" things she doesn't approve of... like a house and land. But she mooches off of her boyfriend who makes about 100% more than me... and she has no problem with him driving an $80K car. She refused to marry him because then she couldn't get gov't $$ for school.  :whatever:

My sister in law babysat my youngest a few weeks ago while my husband and I went out.  When we arrived back to pick him up she told us that out of all the nieces and nephews in the family, ours were the most polite and always said please and thank you for everything.  Made me quite proud, I tell you!

A job well done, that's for sure!

As a non-parent, I thank you for doing such a great job!

In this day and age a polite child is a rare find I am proud to say my teenage son may be a general pain to his sister and me but to everyone else he is a pretty perfect kid
