House Fire Leaves 1 Dead, 1 in Hospital
« on: October 23, 2009, 05:23:13 PM »
Quote
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Screams filled the evening sky as family members try to cope with what happened Monday in a South Memphis community. Two children, 2-year old Catareon Dunn and 3-year old Ladareon Dunn, were left home alone shortly before a fire broke out.

The children’s aunt, Marilyn Wilson, who left the house with the mother, said she had no regrets about leaving the children home alone, “No, I really don’t because if they had been there by themselves, I don’t know if the boys set the house on fire or somebody threw something in there to set it on fire. I really need to get in there to see if my purse burned up. I had my Food Stamp Card and everything in there.”

God, what a sick bitch.  No word on whether either will face any charges yet. It's sad that if they had a left a dog in a car, they'd be in more trouble.  :banghead:

That's horrible.  I hope city presses charges and brings up her "statement" at the trial.
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

I hope somebody got her "statement" on tape and can play it for the jury.

There's a news video at the link.  The aunt is at the end of the segment.

Dear God.....how incredibly tragic.

Ultimate case of child abuse....

Sadly, both women will probably have or do have more children.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "child abuse". Perhaps child neglect or child endangerment.

The aunt has been arrested on unrelated charges.  http://www.myfoxmemphis.com/dpp/news/local/102109_Aunt_Connected_to_Fire_Death_in_Court

Before I read the story, lemme guess...welfare fraud?

Oh, almost--THEFT AND FAILURE TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT!

It's abuse as far as I'm concerned.

One child dead, the other in critical condition.

Leaving them alone to burn up....

I think it was on Hannity last night where he and his guest thought there should be more oversight on bailout money, and how companies SHOULD be limited in executive compensation if they take government money.

Really?  Conditions on accepting goverment assistance?  Why don't we put conditions on PEOPLE who accept government assistance, like don't have kids, don't do drugs, try to find a freakin job, etc?

Sparkey with your suggestion people would be laid off left and right.  Welfare officers would have but 10 people a week willing to adhere to the rules.  8 would flunk out the first week.

Question, what did people do before wellfare ?   How did they feed, cloth and house themselves.??   Depression saw men standing in bread lines and thousands road the rails, hobos, they chopped wood and painted houses just for food and a place to sleep in the barn.

I find few references to what happend to the wives and children they left behind. Some how they survived.  In New York City they planted vegetable gardens on the roof tops and raised chickens. The kids went to school and obeyed their mothers without their Dad around.

What the hell has happend to us Sparky,??
