3. Yes. This is why we need a diversified, INDEPENDENT media in this country. The corporate-owned media that benefits from not telling the truth to the American people must be dealt with. When you have a company like General Electric that profits from military contracts, you can't expect it to report news that would endanger that business in their media subsidiaries.When you have blatant propaganda and mis-information by the likes of Faux News, with no accountability whatsoever for telling lies, it becomes a problem.Do you suppose we'd have gone to war if it had been widely reported that the Bush Administration was LYING to Congress and the American people about Iraq's part in harboring terrorists? How strong would support have been if the Downing Street Memos had been published when first discovered? Would Bush have even been elected to a second term?We need a Fairness Doctrine that deals with today's media issues. There isn't enough diversity in the media to ensure everyone gets the whole story, especially when you consider many of the broadcast stations are all owned by the same entity.
