Here is moonbattery from the Houston Chronicles. I am sure many local newspapers are like that. It is infested with primitives.

You mean like the ubiquitous Texas HOA?
No moron, the HOA is not a government organization.

It's about time that Houston started to act like America's 4th largest city and PLAN how to expand it's land use instead of letting developers with their greed dictate where structures go. All that does is guarantee that our flooding problems will get worse!
Zoning is not a good idea.

Pittsburgh is zoned. Yet there are hulking, mostly empty, steel mills next to residential areas. Chicago is zoned. Yet there are chemical plants and steel mills next to residential areas. Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Plano and Los Angeles are zoned. But the sprawl goes on forever. And the zoning laws, requiring the separation of stores from homes from offices by miles, make anything but sprawl illegal.
And where, exactly, is one specific 'titty-bar' adjacent to a residential area?
He nailed it right on the head.

HOA's do sort of act like mini-governments. Its horrible. I will never ever join one.

Typical DUmmies....they buy a house and a 1/2 acre lot and they want to rule the world.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

The Comical sold it's soul a long time ago since it is part of the Hearst chain. This all stems from the CoH  allowing a twenty story high rise smack dab right in the middle of an upper income neighborhood.
never mind that traffic was going to ruin traffic flow, never mind that the aforementioned HOA's  spent tons of money in preserving the neighborhood as is. Never mind that property values are now going into the crapper because no one wants a twenty story high rise to look out there back door.

The only ones making money are the lawyers and the developers.

We had to join something like an HOA back in CT, but it was for the beach.  We wanted that house and that beach, so there it was.  The dictator of that org was the exact twin of Barbara Boxer in every way.  She and her minions from hell ruled with an unreasonable iron fist.

So, a few of us fair minded people who wanted "beach" to equal "fun in the sun" got together and staged a coup.  When election returns came in, she fled the room crying.  (Picture B. Boxer doing the same and brighten your day.)  So, so sweet.

There's a beach in Connecticut? I'll be damned. I knew it had a shoreline, but just assumed it was all rocks.

I think the government spends hundreds of millions per year putting sand on beaches in this country. Its truly nuts.
