WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Barney Frank, the tough-talking liberal ushering through a major rewrite of rules governing Wall Street, sounded a warning shot on Thursday to big banks: Start playing nice or Congress will make your life even more difficult.

Last spring, Frank helped push a bill through Congress that imposes strict new rules on lenders, including a limitation on when and how banks hike rates. Most of the rules will take effect in mid-February, a date set by Congress to give banks time to prepare for the changes.

But the Massachusetts Democrat, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, said at a hearing on Thursday that lenders have abused the grace period by using the time to hike rates ahead of the new rules. He has introduced legislation that would move up the enactment date to Dec. 1.

Hmmm.  I'm wondering about something.  How come despite the new AP (Associated Press) rules, the primitives continue to put my fellow alum Skins into legal jeopardy by quoting AP stories?

1. I hate that these guys give out their little warnings. They've been sufficiently warned and "playing nice" is not something they are familiar with. I hate to sound like an old hag here, but old LBJ and even Harry Truman would have warned once... Consequences to follow.

I read an AP article today about AP and Rupert Murdoch's news organizations.  The gist I got was that they are concerned about the sites that use their material and also do so to make a profit. That's their main concern, sites that take their entire articles and don't link back to them. They lose out on the ad revenue generated by visitors to their own page.

I have a suggestion: DON'T LIVE ON CREDIT!!!!! A credit card is OK for durable goods but too many people use them to buy non-essentials.

The guy is one of the reasons we find ourselves in this sorry state! For cryin' out loud, when the Bush admin was trying to slow this shit down, it was Shnooker and friends that shut down reform!

Unfortunately, he's got the support of too many in NYC.  He'll likely keep his Senate seat this time around.

Yeah, Saint, much to my chagrin.  There's a boatload of people who can't stand the man, but there is nobody willing to go after that seat.  They're eyeing Kirsten's of course.
