Airports To Screen Passengers For H1N1 Symptoms

With the holiday season just a few weeks away, health officials fear the swine flu will pick up right along with air travel.

New government guidelines are on their way, designed to help keep passengers healthy.

This flu season, airport staff across the nation won't just be screening for security threats. They'll also be looking out for health threats – people who look like they may have the H1N1 virus.

The government says that people traveling internationally may be screened for the H1N1 virus as they leave or enter the U.S.

How long before you are required to submit for inspection anywhere you go?

Papers please.

I had to go to a mandatory company seminar yesterday morning.

One of the topics was H1N1......it was strongly "suggested" that everyone get the vaccine....and under no circumstances to go into the office if we are sick or have any symptoms.

This was told to 65 people crammed into a room..... ::)

There are 5 seminars being held to accommodate everyone in the company.....I went to the third one....had to wonder how many germs were floating around in that room.... :(

One of my granddaughter's classmates had the flu a few months ago.  The dr. called this week and said she had H1N1.  Seems like they're looking for cases to boost the claims.

Has anyone heard that having the regular flu shot, INCREASES the chance you will get H1N1?

I was over at a friend's garage sale last Saturday and her neighbor came by. His wife is a nurse anaesthetist and this is what they are telling them at the hospital. H1N1 vaccine is not yet available here.

Haven't heard that one.

They're giving the shots to the entire staff at Vanderbilt today.  Every hospital I've visited in the last few weeks has already given theirs to their staff or they're just about to.  I've asked in each one, and it doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Wait, who at the airport will be doing the screenings? the people who can barely speak English and don't know how to manage large crowds of people? Yeah, that's smart.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

...yes, the ones that washed out of military basic training after 3 days and the police academy after 2 days.  I swear the ones in Nashville couldn't make it as Walmart greeters.
