University leaders placed blame on the previous director of the campus violence prevention program Jennifer Beeman for inflating the numbers. As the lead UC campus on a $1 million Department of Justice grant aimed at enhancing services for crime victims on all UC campuses, the school could be dropped from the program and face fines totalling thousands of dollars.
Davis grant to help lead UC response to violence against women DAVIS -- The University of California, Davis, will use a new, nearly $1 million federal grant to help the UC's 10 campuses improve their response to violence against women. The project will be informed by the experience of UC Davis' own nationally recognized violence prevention program, which has already received $1.9 million from the Justice Department since 1999, and other campuses that have been awarded similar grants.
