Hi,

I am still fuming.  Following is a letter I wrote the Tampa paper this morning.  I think "Politician" is becoming the same as snake oil salesman....

Dear Editor,

Thank you so much for printing the article about the straw poll results between Marco Rubio and Governor Crist who are both vieing for the republican nomination for the senate.  I want to draw your attention to a couple of sentences which really caught my eye.

"Paulson and GOP insiders noted that Crist has never depended heavily on the party structure.

Nonetheless, the governor has been moving right to counter the bad news.

He canceled his plans for a summit on climate change and dropped his opposition to Gulf oil drilling."

I am getting sick and tired of politicians from both parties saying whatever it takes to get people's votes.  Had the governor been in favor of offshore drilling, perhaps the money from the oil companies bidding rights and royalties would have prevented us from having the huge budget crisis we have right now.

How is a voter to make an intelligent decision when candidates refuse to say what they mean and mean what they say? I defy anyone to now tell me what the governor's true core values and beliefs are when it comes to offshore drilling or the global warming issue.   Much like John Kerry, "I was against it before I was for it!"

Just once I wish we could get politicans to say here is who I am and this is what I believe in and stick by it.

regards,

I completely agree with you.  The only way we are going to find politicians who do say what the mean are when we get term limits and they have to go back into society and live like the rest of us after their 4-6 years.  If they had to live under the terms that they, themselves, have set for everyone, I think they may start to be more honest.
Once you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy.

I've heard that Crist is about as big of a Rino as McCain, and that Rubio is the more traditional conservative.
