WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says requiring people to get health insurance and fining them if they don't would not amount to a backhanded tax increase.

"I absolutely reject that notion," the president said. Blanketing most of the Sunday TV news shows, Obama defended his proposed health care overhaul, including a key point of the various health care bills on Capitol Hill: mandating that people get health insurance to share the cost burden fairly among all. Those who failed to get coverage would face financial penalties.

Ohh well if Obama says its not a backhanded tax increase it must not be.  :whatever:

What's next will we share the cost burden of groceries equally amongst everyone?

"What it's saying is, is that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore," said Obama. "Right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase."

Hmm that should get the DUmmies all riled up not being allowed to be a burden on others  :-)

There is a huge difference between auto insurance and health insurance. If you find you simply can't afford auto insurance you do have the option of taking your car off the road until you can afford it again. Or you even have the option of not owning a vehicle and not driving period.
Under his plan if you cant afford it you have to buy what you cant afford or face paying penalties you cant afford.

This madness has be stopped what Obama is planning on will give the feds even more power than they have now. If they can mandate health insurance what else can they mandate after that?

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.
