DUmmies Discuss The Lies That Form America
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:23:26 PM »
In this thread, the wise DUmmies point out all the lies that form the basis of the American
economy and society:

10 Most Faudulent Ideas Being Sold to America
The 10 Most Fraudulent Ideas Being Sold to Americans

1. All ideas must be treated (respected) equally by the media e.g. there are two sides to an
argument no matter how patently absurd or bereft of logic one is.
2. Corporate personhood e.g. wherein corporations assume all rights of “free speech”
3. The desirability of unregulated markets
4. Depiction of politics as a sport
5. Government is often inefficient
6. Government programs hurt the private sector
7. Truly representative government still exists (Did it ever?)
8. The free (i.e. unencumbered or independent) press
9. A monolithic ECONOMY e.g. “a rising tide lifts all boats…”
10. American exceptionalism

It seems to me that these ideas taken together form a mythology - that collectively these ideas
comprise the dogma of a new national religion wriiten by the moneyed interests for the prols.

1. Add this one......electronic voting machines are safe and secure.

The biggest difference between our side and the DUmmies on electronic voting is that we
gave our guys that last $10.

17. The Right wants us to believe Government Can Not Promote the Common Good
The Right wants us to forget about all the good things government can do-- Social Security,
Medicare, fire departments, FEMA, OSHA, child labor laws, public education, public highways etc.
Bush tried to help that along by cutting funding to successful agencies, putting dolts like
Heck-of-a-Job Brownie in charge of FEMA, letting Karl Rove politicize the DOJ, and other attempts
to undermine public confidence in their government.

If Republicans had succeeded in privatizing Social Security with "individual savings accounts,"
we would have millions more desperate people bankrupt and cursing the government.

Let us not forget Republican Idol Ronald Reagan's charming quote that "The most dangerous
words in the English language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"

There is also Right Wing Kingpin Grover Norquist's dream of making people dislike government
so much that they will de-fund it so it will become small enough to drown it in a bathtub.

Just one of the countless things that Ronald Reagan got perfectly right.

10. The US is not nor has ever been an empire.
And our military is a force for good in the world.

The jug-eared muslim will take care of that one.

11. You forgot a big one -- "Torture works."
The Right has been trying desperately to promote that idea, even though our professional military
and intelligence interrogators told them and had proven softer techniques were far more effective.
Soft techniques are more effective? Did I miss something?

15. Airport security and the Patriot Act keep us safe
How many hijacks in the past 8 years?
How many attacks on American soil in the past 8 years?
Does anyone have an up-to-date count?

18. There are two political parties that represent the peoples interests.
Seperation of church and state.

DUmmy has a point there. Black churches are used as democrat campaign headquarters.

22. "If you work hard, you can become anything you want to be."
This jewel is based on the lie that the playing field is level. It isn't. And everyday it becomes
more skewed in favor of the rich & well-connected.

The other problem with the 'work hard' idea is that they abhor labor. On the one hand they
tell us to work hard & we will be rewarded; on the other, they implement detestable policies
that oppose labor.

24. Add: America is a Representative Democracy
That one went out with the trash long ago.

So DUmmies have discovered that the entire premise of America is a lie.
But don't you dare question their patriotism.

The one thing that runs throught all that nonsense is an infantile whining that things aren`t for them individually as they want.

If I were a primitive and lived in a country as horrible as the one they're describing, I'd leave.

Because third world peasant labor is a good thing.

Who was it that bitched and screamed that we needed them............................?
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I'd have to give the DUmmie that #8 might be correct under current conditions, pretty clear the poor idjit doesn't understand the rest of the issues well enough to have a valid opinion, though.  But, it looks like the biggest whopper got away:  The unquestionable patriotism of the Left.
