No amount of deflecting, stamping your feet, and sticking your fingers in your ears will absolve Uncle Teddy of what he did.
Even if what Laura Bush did (and that is a huge stretch) could be compared to the swimmer 2 wrongs wouldn't make a right.

Even if one equates the two incidents, Laura called and waited for the police, was forthcoming about it with them, and almost certainly has repented and asked forgiveness of God.

Dead Ted didn't report it, didn't wait for cops, lied to them in the report, tried to cover it up, and joked about it.

Huge difference.  One is the mark of a truly compassionate and godly person who is a role model for behavior, the other is a Kennedy.

she didn't leave the scene of the accident. She didn't not report it for 9 hours. She wasn't drunk. She wasn't married and ****ing around. I love Ted Kennedy in spite of what he did at Chappaquidick, not because of it. It was a horrible thing he did. Much, much worse than what Laura Welch did. And anyone trying to compare the two incidents to say that they're the same kind of thing, is not doing themselves or Teddy any favors.
