Is offered the honorary position of "Director of Fun"  :cheersmate:

He loves Thomas the Tank Engine, travelling on the Eurostar and watching his train set go round and round.

So when a vacancy opened up as director of the National Railway Museum Sam Pointon was confident he could do the job - despite being only six years old.

So when a vacancy opened up as director of the National Railway Museum Sam Pointon was confident he could do the job - despite being only six years old.

His letter, in which he outlined how he could control two trains at once, arrived with hundreds of other applications but stood out a mile.

In fact, the museum's bosses were so touched that they decided to offer Sam an honorary position as their Director of Fun.

He is now responsible for coming up with ideas to make the York museum more exciting for children.

And he has already suggested one to outgoing director Andrew Scott - a model train play area for children.

That sounds like an awesome title.  I wonder if I could print up some business cards with that on it. :lmao:

This kid will go far--if his ambition isn't crushed by people constantly telling him what he "can't" do.

Socialism may not suck the life out of him but I'll bet it will dampen his sprirt a lot.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

While the kid's application might not be in the approved format, it is worthy of a personal response.

It'll probably be the kid's first rejection slip  ( :p  ), but it looks like he's ambitious so it won't keep him down for long.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
