Report: Woman entering courthouse 'forgot' she had drugs, knife and razor in purse

PANAMA CITY – A woman trying to enter the Bay County Courthouse on Wednesday said she “forgot” she had drugs, a knife and a razor in her purse.

According to an incident report from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Trina Beth Smith of Panama City Beach, 38, tried to bring a lock-blade pocket knife with a 4-inch blade into the courthouse about 10 a.m. on Aug. 12. Told by deputies on duty at the entrance that she couldn’t bring a knife into the courthouse, she walked outside, put the knife on the ground and walked back into the entryway.

Smith placed her purse on the X-ray machine to be screened, the report said. Deputies noticed that she had what appeared to be two more “cutting instruments” in her purse and asked permission to search her purse.

After receiving permission, the report said, they found nine packs of cigarette rolling papers, two brown tablets, a metal tin containing a partially smoked marijuana cigarette, a blue tablet, and a razor inside the purse.
