Glass of course.

Glass of course.

Yeah.  Nothing's better than glass, on a blender.

Plastic.

It was free.  I'm not going to complain.

Well, yeah, right, sir, we're not primitives.

We're grateful for what we have.

A food blender with a plastic container after all is better than no food blender at all.

Actually we have one of each.  But only use the one with the glass container.

Blender is glass, the food processor is plastic...

Find one at a garage sale.  I would love a Cuisinart or KitchenAide, but mine's a Braun that I've had at least for 10 years. It's basic, but it works fine and does what I need it to do. I mainly use it for chopping onions, celery or pecans....when I need a lot done at one time. I have a little one that someone gave me as a gift, I rarely use it....

Ouch!!! :bawl:

There's a Cuisanart one that I covet....but it is so far down the "what/need list" , that it won't be appearing in my kitchen any time soon.

I did find a mandolin at Ross's (it's plastic and was about $7) a couple of years ago, that I absolutely love! It's wickedly sharp (had to get rid of the first one, that didn't have a "hand protector"....I was great at slicing my thumb :( ).....and is wonderful for slicing. Potatoes, cucumbers, onions, and very carefully - celery. Has additional plates that I can switch in that even cut 2 different sized of "sticks"...for french fries.

Mine's plastic it came with the food processor and I can't quite justify buying a glass one now.

I guess I'm confused about terminology here, but that of course happens in real life, too, if one is deaf.  One should hear me explaining an automotive part to a mechanic, for example.

Anyway.

I appear to not exactly be sure what a "food processor" is.

A "blender" is one of those things with a jar, glass or plastic, on top, towering from the base.  At the bottom of the jar are four blades that chop, mince, or liquefy the food put inside the jar.

Now, how is a "food processor" different from that?

A food processor is larger and comes with an assortment of blades that do other things besides puree.  I have one like this... it will probably last forever.

It's nice, but after spending ten years working doing all this stuff by hand, it never gets used.  Purely a luxury item. I probably should have spent the money on a high-quality knife instead.  :(

Tritto, and then there is an "immersion blender", and mine has a plastic container.

Oooh, those are nice :-)

I used to work at a place that had a 20-gallon soup kettle.  Their immersion blenders resembled outboard motors.  It made awesome black bean soup.

I have an immersion blender too.....love that thing!!!!

Use it when making potato soup or any other type that needs to be pureed. It is soooo easy.

I was one of those who the first time I made cauliflower soup and put it in the blender, it exploded all over my kitchen and the kitchen ceiling. Damn directions didn't say that when I turned on the blender, the top would go flying from the heat compression.  :thatsright: :censored: :censored: :banghead:

Happened when I was first married and in a "gourmet dinner group"...it was my dish to take to the dinner that night....and I was doing it between getting home from work and going to the dinner. I barely had enough for everyone to have a small cup. I was mortified.....also didn't tell anyone that the recipe actually made quite a bit more.  :uhsure:  Took forever to clean it up the next day....  :thatsright:

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value.
