The apologetic primitive:

my sincerest apologies to DU.

i posted something last night that was inflammatory regarding Michael Jackson.

i'm not even going to post the link to it.

for those of you who saw it last night, i am sorry. i regret it. i did not intend for things to come over the way they did.

i would like to explain myself. i am an incest survivor. i was 5 years old when first happened. it continued for 2 years. i didn't tell anyone until i was 14 yrs old.

i was 13 yrs old when Jackson first faced accusations in '93. i admit, i was biased. unfairly or not, that's where i was coming from.

i understand he was acquitted. i understand how the justice system works. it just so happens to be a bias that is hard for me to shed, in any circumstances involving incest, rape, or pedophilia.

we have so much going on in the world today, and our media seems so entirely uncapable of multitasking, that it began to grate on my nerves last night. my bias got in the way and i looked at the media coverage as some kind of hero worship (in my eyes) of a pederast. it was not right of me to to assume as much.

i truly did not mean to offend anyone.

again, my sincerest apologies to DU.

Now, this is an enormous bonfire, so only the Primitives of Prominence are quoted here.

1. I didn't see the offending post but this one reflects someone with a lot of guts and self-awareness. thank you.

What?  Apologizing on a web-site takes guts?

What kind of stupidity is that?

If one takes an internet apology (or insult) seriously, that means one has some real problems, separating real life from internet life.

5. and these accusations were not outrageous...

by his own admission he was spending time in bed with scores of young boys. It wwasn't as though some kid accused him out of the blue.

any ordinary person would be rotting in jail if he were even still alive assuming the other inmates hadn't gotten to him, or, for that matter, the families of the victims. Of course, any family who sent their kid to spend the night with him should be, well, should be something'd. I don't even know what...

10. No idea what you posted. However, DU is funny about things --

Posters here will dance with glee when the most benign Republicans die, and they will show no regret when called on their awful behavior.

A freak like Jackson passes on, and suddenly he's a hero worthy of protection.

Don't sweat it. No more apologies at DU. I doubt that what you posted sunk beneath the average around here.

37. Let's not confuse the leadership with the rank and file.

Get past the fundies and the knuckledraggers, and you've got a couple of dozen very nice Republicans.

I suspect the buzzy one was thinking about franksolich as one of those "couple of dozen."  Thank you, buzzy one.

43. here ya go

but remember, DU uses square brackets..not <>

I have no idea what the above's all about; "reply 42" must have been made by an unterprimitiven, and franksolich doesn't read unterprimitiven.

A child molestation victim  called a child molester a child molester.

He had to apologize to other Dummies for this.

Apparently calling a man what he was is a bad thing on DU.

Its pretend time all the time at DU.

A child molestation victim must hide his natural and right tendencies to please the DU.

The man must be treated as if he were not a child molester, because saying things as they are upsets and confuses said DUmmies.

You know, FGL, sir, I wasn't quite sure what to make of this bonfire when I first saw it.  Of course, the first thing I noticed were all the Primitives of Prominence at it, among all the unterprimitiven, the faceless lynch mob.

But the remark of cali, a third-tier primitive and hence no unterprimitiven, made me hit a speed bump.

The internet is the internet, a world vastly separated from the real world.

Why would it take "guts" for a faceless internet persona to "apologize"?

I mean, it's not like it's real life.

He shouldn't have had to apologize. The primitives are a sad bunch of numb-brained imbeciles who would even want someone to apologize for the natural loathing a victim or even a non-victim should have toward child molesters.
