Ware County sheriff's deputies and state troopers looking for possible drug activity saw more than they wanted.Teaming up in concentrated patrols near the Clinch County line, the officers found one man with a dead doe and another driving buck naked.In a five-hour operation Friday night and early Saturday morning, the officers patrolled U.S. 84, U.S. 82 and the Manor-Millwood Road between them, Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal said. They also conducted surveillance on several Manor sites where residents reported suspicions of drug activity, he said.Detectives stopped William Timothy Mixon, 49, of the 6700 block of Buck Corbitt Road on Manor-Millwood Road after they saw him loading a dead deer into the bed of his pickup truck. Subsequent investigation, Royal said, led detectives to discover more than a gram of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the truck cab.Mixon, who was out on bail for a previous drug charge, remained jailed Monday on new charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects, Royal said."He told us that he'd hit the deer," Royal said.The deer, a doe, was left at the scene, while Mixon's truck, which appeared undamaged, was impounded, investigators said.Detectives pulled over the nude driver in an unrelated incident. He was driving on Suwanee Chapel Road and was stopped because the car was weaving in and out of its lane. Detectives released him after ordering him to put his clothes on and advising him to keep them on."He gave no explanation ... There is no law against driving naked so we had to let him go," Royal said.Royal said the concentrated patrols and surveillance were conducted "in response to numerous complaints we've received from citizens in Manor."
