Extraordinary Gravesite I want To Share
« on: May 22, 2009, 08:53:09 PM »
I happened upon this memorial today and I'm in awe.

After some research, I found out the two are mother and son.  Apparently the son (Oliver) died tragically (in some fashion).  I don't know about the mother.

I learned this "headstone" cost about two million dollars plus the cost of the SIXTY gravesites it covers.  The cemetery requires the family to hire an outside company to maintain the site.

I wish I knew more.  I am intrigued.

I lvoe walking through cemetaries looking at the really beautiful grave stones and crypts.  We have a really old cemetary in the next town over and there are a lot of family crypts and really large monuments.  They are amazing.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.

Awesome. I'm a closet death hag. :-)
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Even in death he had to sing his own tune. My daddy told me I had better watch people that "sang their own tune."
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

The funny thing is, the guy is still alive!

A friend's father passed, he lived to be over 100...this is a quote from his obit:

Dad sat Mary Jane down last July and told her to start writing his obituary. He said the first 100 years were wonderful and much more fun than the second hundred years. Prior to losing his vision in 2007, he was an avid reader. With failing hearing and vision, books on tape and TV were impossible. Dad said to write his “cause of death was boredom and that in lieu of flowers, vote Republican.”
