A Touching Story, with video link
« on: May 14, 2009, 08:11:56 AM »
There was nothing that could have prepared one local woman for a rare disease that threatens her life and has drastically changed her appearance. News 3's Collette Wieland shares her story and illustrates how the kindness of others is making a difference in her life.

Once a healthy, beautiful, vibrant, and young woman, she had the whole world ahead of her. But no one could have ever predicted the life-threatening changes that were coming her way.

On April 25, 2002, Tanya Angus was diagnosed with Acromeglia, a condition often referred to as "gigantism." A brain tumor wrapped itself around her inner carotid artery and now, Tanya's 30-year-old body just won't stop growing.

"I've been asked to leave a salon because of my size. They thought their chair was going to break. It's not just my fingers that get big, you know. It's my whole body - my head is a lot bigger, my face."

This poor girl, she went from being a vibrant attractive young lady, to being a lady that now can't stop growing at 30 years old. She is a rare case, the only one in the United States known not to quit growing by the administration of a drug.

God bless her & her family!
