The internally inconsistent argument is the staple of liberal rationalism.
Take the movie, V: for Vengeance, for example. That movie was hyped-up to be all the cheap caricatures of the Bush admin the left could conjure. What made the villian so villianous? He dictated by his own hand what was the law and he ruthlessly prosecuted any who dared disagree with him even using such things as torture to compel the reluctant.
Who was the hero?
Apparently it was some guy who dictated the law by his own hand and ruthlessly prosecuted anyone who disagreed with him. Hell, he even tortured the semi-cute chick but I guess it's OK because when he did it his motive was to say, "Woudn't this suck if it hapened to you?" which actually it did.
What a pant-load and yet this movie is worshipped as speaking truth to power.
PS_ you should should point out that if they're against religious based laws they might want to rethink abolition.
