The really stupid part is that one expects any head of state to make these mistakes in protocol. Every leader has some snafu where they didn't perform some ritual properly. Most of us just point, laugh and move on. The DUmmies try to act like each one is some global incident.
There is a certain significance to honoring protocols.
For example if a leader was to refuse the handshake of the US President, whomever they were,it would be a collective insult to the country as well as a sign of poor relations.
The same would be true if the US President refused to extend the gesture.
If for some reason a handshake was considered a sign of disrespect in a certain country there are advance groups finding this out and working on a resolution and fitting alternative.
Human nature being what it is causes people to slip and do automatically what they are used to.
When that happens usually it is quickly laughed off, assurances made that no insult was intended and all things continue.
That it seems O has no clue as to any of these protocols may offer insight into the arrogance and ineptness of the staff he has surrounded himself with...an unsettling mix.
It betrays his entire administrations policy forming procedures.
On edit I should have added that it is clear this bow was not some slip as it isn`t normal for and American and if it isn`t proper protocol in that country then obviously it wasn`t worked out in advance either.
