Those against universial healthcare ALWAYS think that it's going to help only the poor and lazy. That is BULLSHIT. We have between 45-47 million people without healthcare, and I don't think that all those people are on food stamps like Octomom. You're letting out those who have been laided off during this crisis, the companies who don't give their employees health benefits, and the CHILDREN WHO DON'T HAVE HEALTHCARE!!! Yes, there's always going to be those who don't work and are lazy, but I don't think it's all of the 45-47 million Americans who don't have healthcare
.

I smell a mole.

On my W-2 I look at how much I spent on medical insurance, when neither my son, nor myself saw a doctor and I kinda wish I was uninsured...

Ya know, doctor's used to make house calls and the cost was a lot less.  Now the government had regulated healthcare to an insane degree and the cost is outrageous.

I'll lay odds at least half of that 45 million are lazy halfwits! Ever been to one of those Renaissance fairs? That's all, many of those people do! They travel from one to the next. The only income they make are from donations and the dope they sell! Ever seen one of those Rainbow People campsites? They're professional campers!

Yeah, I'd say perhaps 30 million of 'em don't produce a damn thing for society!
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

And another 20 million are illegal aliens......

They've passed this way a time or two.

I would hesitate to call them professional campers. They tend to make an absolute mess of wherever they stop to sleep off the dope.

That 45 million number is highly creative accounting on the part of the communists.  The way they come up with that large a number is to account every single individual who did not have health insurance for any portion of that year as not having health insurance at all for that year.  Did you change a job last year and have a short period of time when you were changing over to new insurance where you might not have been covered?  You count for the whole year.  Do you work and not take health insurance from your company because you are covered by a spouses policy?  According to the communists, you don't have insurance.  They do the same thing for kids.

Further, illegal aliens are counted in the numbers, even though they are not a primary responsibility to the United States taxpayer.

Further, they don't adjust for whether or not the lack of health insurance is a choice.  A twenty-something may decide that they would rather have the new car rather than health insurance, and that might be the best deal for them.  Nonetheless, they are counted as uninsured.

An honest assessment would show that chronically uninsured American citizens are not a really a very large number.

I've certainly been considering doing without health insurance. I have an individual policy because it's cheaper than what is offered at work. Paid $400 a month for myself and one dependent (which ain't bad) and my annual girlie visit STILL cost me $580 out of pocket! WTH?  VERY bad!!! Isn't that part of the argument of the bleeding hearts? That people aren't getting preventative care because of no insurance? Sheesh, the insurance don't help!

I could put less aside every month and quickly grow a nice oh shnit fund instead.  :whatever:

Shopping for a new plan now. Any agents around?
Hey everyone! It's Amanda! I was pretty active at mt.org (as TGRlvr61502) before the fateful election and was invited over by Kev, but lost the link and had forgotten about this place until I got the email about the big mod dilemma. Glad to be back!
