I spent last night disguised as a Progressive (Richmond, VA)

After Action Report for you'all.

To begin with:  The hotel here was full of both Oabamites and Hill-raisers.  I mean full! Hundreds of delegates from the democrat party.

Observations:

  • They self-segregated almost immediately.  The Obamites grabbed the back room and the Hill-raisers grabbed the bar stools.
  • They were polite to one another.  The Obamites in particular were very deferential to the Hill-raisers.
  • No signs of BDS -- I think they leave that to the moon bats.  There was a proforma disdain but it wasn't like you see it over at the DUmp.
  • They are sharper than you would think, but they are truly self-blinded.  They do need their memes (the war is wrong, the economy is tanking) to keep themselves going.  The ones I spoke with admit that Bush is pretty smart and even admitted the war was unavoidable.
  • They are very excited -- and the "get out the vote" crowd is particularly pleased


Folks, you can't fight the enemy until you look him in the eye.  I am able to mix among them because I have learned how to keep the discussion structural rather than idealogical. I never mis-represented myself and even had a quiet discussion with a very nice lady where I told her I was "from across the aisle." No bouncies, no attempts at conversion, just adults agreeing to having differing opinions.

I wish I had something more exciting to report, but we need to realize we aren't up against DU, we are up against some people who are more reasonable than we hoped.

Wow - that must have been one hell of an experience.

On the no-bouncy front, I was with the family Saturday dropping my car off with a mechanic (and I'm about to post that tale in the whiny zone).... the mechanic shares a building with some sort of hispanic group...I don't speak/read Spanish, so I really don't understand the signage..... anyway!

As we were getting into the husband's car, four young people (God, I feel so old using that term), one white, one hispanic and two black, approached us with fliers for Obama, and they told us he was going to be appearing at the local (Va. Beach) convention center Sunday.  I smiled, took the fliers, thanked them and said NOTHING about my personal politics because:

1.  I'm not a ranting Moonbat
2.  I don't think a political "dressing down" in front of my kids is a learning experience, other than "Mommy is a Jerk"
3.  I was totally struck by their enthusiasm, manners and downright glee over their candidate, and considering their age, I think that's a great thing.  Even if...well....you know.

No bounce, none at all.

Now:  Who do you think is more beatable by the Republicans:  Hillary or Obama?

A guy called into the morning show I listen to saying he'd just voted for Hillary (and expressed the need to shower afterwards) because he thought she was more beatable than Obama, so he sacrificed hi primary vote.

Musta been fun. I have a moonbat customer I pretend to agree with and I always look forward to seeing her.  :-)

Just a thought, but maybe that's the reason. They knew you were a conservative so they kept their guard up. In my opinion, many of the DUmmies would be the same way in public. They talk all billy joe badass on the innernets, but in real life, are as harmless as a kitten.

An analogy would be you cannot infiltrate a crime organization by representing yourself as a cop.

They didn't know until the end of our chat.  And I looked just like everyone else in the room, so how could you tell?  It was like the Good Kirk and Spock when they were beamed to the Evil Enterprise.
