I have some questions about single-payer healthcare.
Advertisements [?]Can you guys help me out?

1) How will insurance companies be affected by a single payer system?

2) Will millions of jobs by insurance companies and other administrative positions be lost?

3) Who will pay for the single payer system? Will it all be through taxes, potentially higher ones, or will businesses and individuals still pay as they do now?

4) How will it affect the kind of care we receive when we go to the doctor or hospital?

5) What are some "good" reasons for NOT going with a single pay system?

I've already done a little research, so please don't just send me a link. I'm interested to see what you guys think, and know, about a single payer system.

Pretty much.  You will get medical care (Indifferent medical care to be sure, but medical care at any rate) if the Federal insurance adjuster uhh, care-approval clerk determines that you are economically repairable can be treated back to full and productive earning capability.  Otherwise you might get hospice care, if they haven't started the Soylent Green factory up by then.

2. There are no "good"  reasons for not going single payer. Every reason is based on an ideology and that ideology is based on an idea that is bogus.

Some of the other responses were at least reasonable.  A Canadian warned that there will be no "Cadillac care," you won't see hospitals that look like fine hotels.  This is one of the things that did Hillarycare in.  People wouldn't have been allowed to opt to buy cadillac care.  Would have been "unfair."   I believe that if it came down to that, this is the stuff of revolution.  Imagine you're a pretty well off guy, and your kid or wife has cancer.  Can you imagine "them" telling you that you can't go for the absolute best treatment that your money could buy to try and save the love of your life?  Can you say assasination?

This Walter Williams article should answer that question. .....but it won't change the DUmmies quest for FREE healthcare.

Didja get a load of zero saying that every 30 seconds someone files for bankruptcy due to health care costs?
I did some rough math, that would mean that about corrected by Johnnyrebwould be dropping like flies due to "health care costs!"  Has he gone completely INSANE as well as GRAY, thinking we'll just lap up outlandish statistics like this unchallenged?
Yes it was promptly discredited, but some moonbat Obamabot named Jemoo Green was spouting the same damn lie this morning on Fox.  How can they do that with a straight face?  Does credibility mean absolutely nothing??

I did some rough math, that would mean that about 38 million people per year would be dropping like flies due to "health care costs!"  Has he gone completely INSANE as well as GRAY, thinking we'll just lap up outlandish statistics like this unchallenged?

At one every 30 seconds that would be 1,051,200 per year.

Not to the Libs.  It's all about the dramatic...damn the facts.

Saying free is like dangling a shiny object in front of a DUchebag.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

There's no incentive now.  What Medicare doesn't cover, the hospital writes off.  (Oh, and Medicare reimbursement is usually about 65% of the normal bill...or less.  It's better than no payment, but hospitals lose money on a lot of treatments.)

If all healthcare was paid through Medicare, a lot of things would have to change.  Private rooms?  Nope, everyone on wards and pray that infections don't spread.  CAT and MRI?  Nope, we'll zap a couple X-rays and send you home.  You want a TV, and meals?  You better be ready to pay out-of-pocket.  It'll take us back to the conditions 100 years ago.

IOW, oBama wants our medical care system to keep pace with the economy he is creating, right, along with the standard of living that it will bring us?  I'm thinking Laura Ingalls Wilder would be right at home.

If this sh*t gets passed, I'm out of a job.  There will be zero growth in hospitals.  They won't be able to afford new construction or renovation.  There will be no upgrades in facilities or procedures.  The "domino effect" will be profound.

"Single payer healthcare" = "Taxpayer pays for healthcare".

Having spent many, many hours in an ER with my parents, they do that now especially after hours and on the weekends.
