Bank nationalisation gains ground with Republicans

Quote
“You should not get caught up on a word [nationalisation],” he told the Financial Times in an interview. “I would argue that we cannot be ideologically a little bit pregnant. It doesn’t matter what you call it, but we can’t keep on funding these zombie banks [without gaining public control]. That’s what the Japanese did.”

Barack Obama, the president, who has tried to avoid panicking lawmakers and markets by entertaining the idea, has recently moved more towards what he calls the “Swedish model” – an approach backed strongly by Mr Graham.

And so it continues....

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." --Norman Thomas, 1944

You know, I admire John McCain for his military service and his financial discipline as a politician, but sometimes I wish he would STFU.  I have NO used for Lindsey Graham, however.

Because a 300 point drop in the markets based on fear of nationalization isn't enough of a clue.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

These people are either criminally stupid or part of a criminal conspiracy to topple our economic system.

Either way the whole lot of them should be jailed.

Everybody sees a cash cow and wants a piece of it.  They talked us into a recession and now are trying to gain more control.  If it looks like they're going to get the nationalisation my wife and I'll pull most of our money out of the bank and keep it in a safe.  We need to vote these people out and get true conservatives in there.

Wonder what would happen if those who are the producers in our society just decided to boycott banks? :uhsure:

Sounds like a plan, but where in the world can money be safely parked? These are truly scary times. Maybe we should stash gold in a safe or something. At least it should probably appreciate.

Read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Damn...  I keep forgetting to order a copy.

Excuse for for a few minutes while I correct that.

Dear Senators:

Please keep your thieving ****ing hands off of our goddam banks.

Sincerely,

BC
one of the things I like best about my bank - Dollar Bank - is that it is not publicly traded and is safe from crap like this. That being said - I agree - they need to all be told NOT to support any attempts to nationalize the banks.
Stand up for what is right, even if you must stand alone.

Got a copy on order.  Should be here in 5-15 days per the confirmation e-mail.

If you skip the monolouges and disjointed sex scenes, the book takes half as long to read.

I'll read it as written.

We need to make a RINO preserve in Kennebunkport, Maine, right in the middle of the New England "Blue Blood Republican" region, and just ship our Grahams and Specters to sip their dry Martinis with Thurston Howell the Third in Bermuda Shorts and Yale polo shirts. Maybe Snowe and Collins can start a charity auction or something along with their Eva Gabor types.
