History replays itself.
« on: January 29, 2009, 08:00:23 AM »
Was reading this and just happened to notice a lot of simularities to more recent events.

With a few minor substitutions and some tweeking...... history replays itself.

January 30, 1933

Adolf Hitler(Obama) is named chancellor of Germany (president of the USA)
On this day in 1933 (2009), President Paul von Hindenburg names Adolf Hitler, leader or fÜhrer of the National Socialist German Workers Party (or Nazi Party)(or democrat party), as chancellor of Germany (as President of the USA.)
The year 1932 (2007)had seen Hitler’s (Obama's) meteoric rise to prominence in Germany (America), spurred largely by the German (American) people’s frustration with dismal economic conditions and the still-festering wounds inflicted by defeat in the Great War (GWOT) and the harsh peace terms of the Versailles treaty. A charismatic speaker, Hitler (Obama) channeled popular discontent with the post-war Weimar (post Bush) government into support for his fledgling Nazi (democratic) party. In an election held in July 1932 (november 2008), the Nazis (democrats) won 230 governmental seats; together with the Communists, the next largest party, they made up over half of the Reichstag (congress).

Hindenburg, (congress) intimidated by Hitler’s (Obama's) growing popularity and the thuggish nature of his cadre of supporters, the SA (or Brownshirts) (protesters), .....initially refused to make him chancellor (president) .....German (American movie stars etc.) businessmen and the conservative German (liberal Americans) National People’s Party (DNVP), convinced Hindenburg (congress) to appoint (accept) Hitler (Obama) as chancellor (president), with the understanding (dictator).   that von Papen (Joe Bidden) as vice-chancellor (vice President) and other non-Nazis (republicans)  in key government positions would contain and temper Hitler’s (Obama's) more brutal tendencies.

Hitler’s (Obama's) emergence as chancellor (president) on January 30, 1933 (January 20, 2009), marked a crucial turning point for Germany (the USA) and, ultimately, for the world. His plan, embraced by much of the German (American) population, was to do away with politics and make Germany a powerful, unified one-party state. He began immediately, ordering a rapid expansion of the state police, the Gestapo, and putting Hermann Goering (???????? to be named at a later date) in charge of a new security force, composed entirely of Nazis (Democrats) and dedicated to stamping out whatever opposition (Republicans) to his party might arise. From that moment on, Nazi Germany (The USA) was off and running, and there was little Hindenburg (The republicans)or von Papen—or anyone—could do to stop it.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
