16 year old blogs about being homeless.  Did you see this yet?

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/south_bay&id=6580767

I wish there was some way they could dig themselves out of that situation. Not just staying in a hotel room for two days; but, instead, a real solution.
God forbid any of the DUmmies in CALIFORNIA offer part of their home to this young person.

1. I'm going to kick this because there must be some ideas the Lounge has... some thoughts or opinions.

I hope.
No, I'll just kick your thread.  It's easier that way.  And I don't have to feel bad because I "did" something.

2. you should post this in GD.  thanks for the link.
Another DU-Nothing activist.  Hey, park your car on the other side of the street.  It helps lower pollution, doncha know (and I can pretend your rusty-ass Dodge Aries doesn't exist).

5. Well, I posted it in GD too.   And it's sinking like a rock.
I'm shocked.  Really. :whatever:

7. I live the next town over from them.  This is a tough area to live in - very expensive. I could never have done it without having roommates, then I met my husband and moved in with him. If I'd been trying to pay rent on my own, I would have been in the same boat.

I don't think there are any easy answers. Even if they both picked up jobs serving fast food or bagging groceries, they'd need to save up money for first and last month's rent and security on a place. It's almost impossible to save money when you're homeless - you have to eat out because you have no place to cook, you have to do your laundry in a laundromat - everything is difficult and tends to cost more because of it.

Sad story and all too common.
More DU Activism.  Hey, I posted on the internet.  What more do you want from me?  A ****in' miracle?

Wow!  I'm impressed with the dummies willingness and enthusiasm for helping out the homeless - as long as it's someone else helping them.

Oh well, they don't have much longer to wait.  On January 20th, the Obamas will take care of everything for everyone.

Very sad to read this from a minor.   ABC news exploiting children, what a shock.

Some of Kalifornia's liberal elites could let them stay in their climate controlled doghouses.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
