SUV hit a pedestrian tonight in front of me and my grocery store.
Driver was in a hurry to cut me off and hit a woman walking back to her car. The thud made it through my closed windows, my radio, and my heater going full blast.
Alaskan women. She refused ambulance service. I figured she would. I called dispatch and asked if she had. They told me she could go later on. If I was a betting person I'd put money that she will. It was a hard hit.
Would you ever refuse ambulance service if you were hit by a car?
Hmmm. One wonders what "Alaskan women" are.
Sturdy and competent, like Sarah Palin perhaps?

2. that would have freaked me out
As for ambulance service, well with insurance I'd take it but if I didn't have any I wouldn't be able to afford it even if it was eventually reimbursed by the driver.

3. I was freaked out. My adrenaline was kicked in. I think you might be right.
I hadn't thought about the whole insurance thing.

6. Ambulance service is free to residents of my county.
We passed an ambulance service levy years ago. They bill your insurance if you have coverage but individuals don't have to pay anything.

7. Cool
My mom, unfortunately, has required several ambulance calls in the past couple years and even after her Medicare she still has to pay a fortune.

4. One of my friends did just two weeks ago.
The paramedics blew it, imo, because he was in shock at the time. He wound up in the ER anyway with back and neck injuries and a broken leg. I still can't figure out how that was allowed to happen.

5. I have. I got hit on my bike by a Dodge Intrepid.
I actually got hit about a block from the ER. Had I needed to be checked out, I could have walked over faster, but I had places to be, no insurance to pay for an unneeded visit, and no greater injury than some road rash and shock.
My bike was trashed. I carried it to where I was headed, cleaned up in the public bathroom, and went to my appointment. I rode the bus home, and brought the bike home with me because it would still be useful for parts. So not only did I walk away, walked away carrying a bike (the rims were too bent to roll.)
I'm pretty tough though. And if I'd had any reason to suspect a head injury or had any abdominal bruising that could have indicated internal bleeding, I'd have gone in to get looked at.
After which some mockery of President-Apparent Sarah Palin; some primitives obviously misread the original post, where the "Alaskan women" was the run-overee, not the runner-over.
Primitives need lessons in reading comprehension.

9. I was hit by a car once.
On my bike. I was riding in the street (the bike lane) and a car backed out of its driveway without stopping and it slammed right into the side of my bike, pushing me off. It hurt like a mother, but I felt fine and I decided against calling the police, since it was an older man who said he was getting to the hospital because his wife was crashing. I felt really bad for him because I remember what it was like for my grandma the night she crashed and died at the hospital.
I was fine.
