Another Monday...Moday?
« on: November 10, 2008, 06:02:09 AM »
 :evillaugh:

Morning folks! Drinking my java right now and contemplating on what needs to be done today. Nice little headache going still that's been my 'friend' all weekend.  :thatsright: Think it started as a sinusy thing from the dry air :censored: How these things usually go for me is it should be gone in the next couple of days. Anyway........

Nothing too exciting to tend too today. Usual routine. I'll probably knock out my schoolwork that's due tmrw, today and workout of course. Otherwise, I'm going to crank up a fire when I get back from the gym mid morning and sip on warm beverage all day while I do house stuff.

Morning!!

Good morning, Cave!

Interesting day ahead of me...Mr Flame and I get to go to Regional Building and try to get a permit for finishing our basement.  If I live through that (I picture a lot of this:  :banghead: :banghead: in my trip there!), then we will hit th grocery store at some point.

When my daughter gets home, she and I head to Baltimore for the So You Think You Can Dance Tour concert.  I told her about it last week.  I was going to wait until yesterday, but she has a Master's class at dance all week, and wanted her to be prepared for missing it.

Chilly outside this morning, at 29 and breezy, but supposed to warm up to near 50.

Eating my asiago cheese bagel with shmear and drinking a large cup of Vanilla Hazelnut coffee from Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Work, work, work...that's it for me today.

Flame, I want to hear all about the show. SYTYCD is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I love how they bring in a wide array of choreographers to create the dances. Some of those dances are really moving.

24 degrees here and whilst getting the mancub ready for school there was a surprising absence of either of his cold weather coats.  After some rather pointed discussion and a search of the lost and found bin at school they were recovered. :whatever:

We have about four days of normality here and then my missus is leaving for another week of business travel to San Antone. Damnit.

I also have to drive halfway to Minneapolis on Wednesday to drop my daughter off with my Brother who is taking her up the rest of the way to a Congresional youth leadership thing she was inveted to attend over the weekend. Then get the house ready for a dinner party Thursday evening.

What a fun week ahead.  :p

Ahh, it appears that it's going to be a usual Monday.  I'm going to try and get out of here a bit early this afternoon, so I'm going to have to actually hurry and work today.

My professors finally posted all the grades for various projects.  I still have an A in everything.   :-)  Tomorrow I take my finals, so tonight it's all algebra all the time and a light scanning of material for my other class.

Good for you, Mia! All that worry and your acing it! I think grammar will break my streak. I'm averaging a B now :p...acccckkkk! For those wondering, I hate grammar rules. I can clean up my act in a paper(you know, when I have to write properly), but I hate learning the rules of it all. UGH! I swear some stuff has already confused other stuff I already knew from years earlier. I'm sure nothing there was grammatically correct, but I'm afraid I'm comfy enough with you all to keep it casual.  :-*

Yeah, it does seem that some grammar rules change every year!  The thing I hate is when they say a paper must be so many pages in length.  I write very concisely and it's hard to me to repeat the same sentiment in multiple sentences.  So far, I'm not running into that problem at this university.  :)

Same here :cheersmate: The funny thing is in proper grammar one is expected to be concise, but writing multiple pages when the point can be made in 2 less then required gets tedious and defeats the idea of being concise and on the point. One place I found that I had to be even more concise then normal was in Speech class. It's amazing how LITTLE you really can say in 5 minutes, but it's a good exercise in filtering out what is not important and tying everything together.

It's a damp 65 degrees here at Underwear Ranch.  The sun is peeking through, periodically.  It'll probably hit 75.

It is too wet to mow, so I guess I lose my yard guy for another week.

For me it was years being on staff and editor of the high school yearbook.  Everything is written short and to the point. In high school the adviser was editor for a few different magazines and really beat it into us to be concise.

Yes, that's right, I fully admit it I was editor-in-chief of my high school yearbook.  LOL!  :)

I don't know the original reason I stayed concise in papers. I think I just found the point quickly and got on with it. Since I never had to write filler for the sake of writing filler, it is difficult to try.

Still, I've filled pages. Sometimes I just try to turn the issue at hand over a little bit more and find another facet if at all possible, but other times it does come down to how many ways can I say Bob wears red shoes.  :thatsright:

I have a friend that used to fight with professors.  He'd write the paper and they'd dock him for length, and he'd just say "Did I cover all the point?  Did I miss any facts?"  Then they'd say no, and he'd ask them why he needed to write another page of BS when his point was already done.  LOL.  :)

A bit brisk here this morning, but the sun is out. Rain's coming in tomorrow for the rest of the week.

Doing driveby reports, getting my act together on a new foreclosure that I got on Friday and just got another this morning. Lots of emails regarding those, getting locks changed, trashouts, winterizations and lawn cleanup estimates in. Both are in good areas for foreclosure sales and both will be well under $100k so they should sell quickly......I hope! Have to go see both and get pictures taken. Thankfully, both have been abandoned. I really hate having to talk to the owners....and when there's renters...I get really angry because they are victims in the whole mess.

Congrats on the school grades, Ladies!!! :cheersmate:

Not doing much of anything here.  I'll go to one class, then go to work.  I'm just glad they're giving me enough hours (27) as they've been cutting back on others' hours.

I'll leave at 12:45, to pick up lunch/dinner from the school cafeteria (so I don't buy anything from the Publix Deli...that's a bad habit, buying their chicken tenders.  :p )

Went to the doctor to pick up a note for my youngest.  I took her to the doctor friday but forgot to get a doctors note.  I counts against her less if we have a doctors note.  I guess me saying she went to the doctor friday wasn't enough.

I feel bad for my family because I haven't been too "housewifey" lately.  I have only cooked a handful of times over the past two months so I decided to look up a recipe and make it.   So I went to the grocery store and got stuff to make Shrimp Portofino.  I have no idea if it will turn out well or not, if it does I will post the recipe.  I can't see worth a crap so I felt bad for all the people who were out driving on the streets with me.  My eye is still extremely blurry.  Next I have to actually get the kids at school.  I hope I don't run over any of the kids that walk home.

Sigh, I thought I was going to be able to breeze by today.  Alas, the cashiers have forced me to reconcile cash sales...again.   :banghead:
