Friday Follies
« on: November 07, 2008, 09:38:52 AM »
What's up in your neck 'o the woods today?

I'm taking a break from doing tickets...got the first day done, just one more to go, but my neck/back were getting sore, I guess I was hunched too much over the table.

Thinking pasta something or other for dinner tonight.  And I'm gonna make a cake later, for dessert.

Tomorrow is a HUGE game for the youngling.  If they win that one, they are in the Championship game (interleague), which is played on a college field.  Send white lights and good vibed to the peewee Broncos tomorrow!  (I'm hoping last night's Broncos/Browns game is a good omen, as we are playing the Browns!)

We were promised snow here on the eastern slope of the Nebraska Sandhills, just as the western slope had gotten.

No snow.

Well, I'm stuck with another rental car for today (and only today, hopefully).  The sliders on a passenger window on my Mazda 6 have to be replaced and since that's apparently going to take several hours, my warranty provides me with a rental vehicle.

I'm driving a frickin' 2009 (looks like a 2008, but the Enterprise key says 2009) Lincoln Town Car.  That car is not suited to short people like me.  I can't get the driver's seat completely adjusted so that my feet are a comfortable distance from the accelerator/brake pedals.   :(    Has some fun features I've never gotten to play with before (the back-up sensor was neat).

In other words, I'm driving a granny-mobile (no offense to my grandparents, who have better taste in car brands anyway as they just got a new Cadillac  :p ).

Hopefully, my car will be ready at 5, otherwise, I won't have it back until Monday.  *sighs*

Flame, hope your boy's team does well. Keep us posted. ACC, perhaps this is a taste of what you will be living 60 years from now :evillaugh:. JK..I hear you on the short people thing...I am a hair shy of 5'3"...I need to say no more.  :bird: :-)

As for me, just picking up before the family tears the house up at the weekend. We are set to take the kids to Madagascar 2 tomorrow and then I'm taking the girl child the next day to see HSM 3 :whatever: I mean :-) :uhsure:

Looks like we got a great weekend for movie watching too...pouring right now and expected to for the next 24 hours at least.

Other then that, not a whole lot going on. Just took a midterm a few days back so school work is quiet for the moment.

Going to make hamburgers tnight on the George Foreman.

The rain you are getting is worrying me...it's supposed to hit us tomorrow.  I really don't want to sit and watch them play football in the pouring rain!

Well crap and that's said because it's not a passing rain either. Steady and big heavy drops. *sigh* No lightening or anything though so bring a big umbrella and a warm fleece or jacket. It's 51 here right now an drainy, but expected to dip later in the day.

My F150 truck has adjustable seats AND pedals. I'm surprised that the Mercury doesn't.

Today I'm covering for the night receptionist, so I didn't come into work until 11am today!  It was nice, I slept until 9:30am and it was all sunny in my room, not like my usual 6am wake up time.

Tonight I'm supposed to meet up with some girlfriends after I get off work.  It'll be nice to see them.

Oh no, the Lincoln does have them.  The buttons were located near the window controls, rather than on the side of the seat. :mental:  I was just struggling to get it to where I wanted the seat to be, which I finally managed to fix. This car is so much different from the Town Car my family had, obviously. Lincolns are nice, and have some great features, not to mention VERY comfy leather seats. I still love the old 80's Town Cars, though.  Ours was gold and built like a tank.

PS: I'm one of those people who has a hard time adjusting to change.  :p

The rain has started here too. Nice and steady....it was in the upper 60's earlier, but supposed to be heading down to low 50's tomorrow.

There must be some weather coming in though, because one of the cats is sitting at my feet. The only time she ever does that is when the weather is going to get bad. Neither one of us likes thunder. :whatever:

Think we're staying in tonight. I worked on reports until about 2 this morning, and have 2 more, 1 is due tonight and the other tomorrow. Think I'll get them out of the way tonight instead of rushing to get them done on Sunday night. When due on the weekend, I have until 10am on Monday before they are late.

Got a new foreclosure today. Thankfully, when I called the utility company, they said the utilities were shut off yesterday at the homeowners request, so that means they have moved out on their own and I don't have to be the bad guy.

Wonder if UT will win their homecoming game against Wyoming? ::)

I'm ready for UT basketball.....it's more exciting than UT football is anymore.

Both my two girls are home sick today.  The oldest came home yesterday early from school with a migraine and has thrown up several times.  Apparently there is some stomach bug going around that I think she caught as well.  I decided to take my youngest to the doctor because it's friday and I didn't want her to get worse over the weekend.  I'm so glad I did, she has strep.  The poor kid has been semi sick since halloween but I didn't think it was anything serious.   I had to drive her myself to the doctor and pick up her prescription today and I could hardly see.  If I closed my right eye I could see better.  When I wake up in the morning my vision is really good, when I dilated it it sucks.  I almost held off dilating it until her appointment but it wasn't until 1:10 so I couldn't.

I told my husband today that I want fried rice and this YUMMA soup from a neighborhood Japanese restaurant tonight so I'm not cooking.  They have the best fillet mignon that melts in your mouth but I don't feel like having meat tonight.

Me and a friend are going to Blue Fish over in Las Colinas for sushi, sashimi and sake tomorrow.   :-)

I am really, really tired.

I got about 3 whole hours of sleep last night and was up at 6 dealing with the parnet thang and cooking for everybody.
My Brother and Nephew were here overnight so we had a huge breakfast.

Cripes.

I started typing the above and went into get some coffee.  I made the mistake of laying down on the bed to cuddle with my Eddie cat for a second and woke up a few minutes ago.  Good thing I wasn't driving. :)

That is tired asdf!  My cat, Monty, decided that he needs to sleep in the middle of my bed so I woke up in the middle of the night with him right up next/half on me and I didn't have enough covers.  He got a little pissy when I had to shove him outta the way to pull the blanket back.

Eddie sleeps tucked under my right arm and the part Maine Coon cat Tucker who is around 10-12 pounds tries to sleep draped over my legs. My wife and I have to rearrange almost 20 pounds of various cats to try to snuggle at night. :)

Mia likes to be near me, but not next to me.  Monty in the last 6 months or so has decided he needs to be right next to me to a little on top of me while I sleep.  And my alarm going off in the morning, he starts meowing and moves closer, because Queen's "Under Pressure"  means it's pettin' time!

Pizza sounds really good. I was just thinking about what I should do for dinner. I was supposed to go out to a pub with a girlfriend but that fell through.
