Palin will be back - If everything goes right, she may end up as Steven's successor in the Senate.

And then the 'inexperienced' crap will come to an end by '12.

I think the MSM is going the way of the wooly mammoth. Newspaper sales are way off...FoxNews is way up as far as news-watching programs go.

I think she has a chance. She needs to overcome the "inexperience" tag. She needs to stay a bit on the national stage. Maybe a few guest appearances on the news talk shows (the good ones), etc.

We should watch and we should wait. In 2012 Her time will come again and those of us that want to see the damage fixed by our side will have all the reasons we need to elect her if she wants to run. Otherwise we my end up with another race with the same cast and no direction from them. We need a good strong leader and so far Sarah is the only one with more balls then 90% of the so caled moderates.

Right on. I would love to see her debate the Magic Negro in 2012. I think she could eat his lunch and kick him in the balls at the same time. Sarah for 2012. I would even donate to her campaign which would be a first for me.

The only way the GOP can take it back in 2012 is simple:  do NOT put a woman on the ballot.

Chauvanism is alive and well. The treatment of both Hillary and Sarah proves it.  The media ran with it, characterizing Hillary as a pant-suit wearing, emasculating, ball busting dyke and Sarah as a brainless, half-witted washed up beauty queen.

So **** you, Keith Olbermann, Tina Fey and the harpies on the View, and **** the rest of you who did it more subtly:  Matt Lauer, Viera, O'Brien, et al.  The majority of middle America follows the media like mindless sheeple.

I was so disgusted during this campaign. Even my own sister (she doesn't know that I post here so I can be more candid than elsewhere) bought into that media filth. She kept talking about how stupid Palin was, blah, blah. I still haven't talked to her since a few days before the election. I'm not ready yet. Her husband voted for Obama. I don't want to be like a DUumie, but I just need the time to settle down.

McCain wasn't my first choice, but I had respected him. That respect is less now, as he didn't stand up for Palin. He could have made those staffers knock it off. And if he had someone from CBS, then he's more naive than I thought.

He always was flattered by the media attention. Maybe he's learned too late who he can trust and who he can't.

In some ways he might have been worse than Obama. At least Obama knows how to organize. (but I don't trust him).

McCain could have won this, I would not be at all supprised if he was torpedoed by someone on his staff.  We'll never know for sure - but that election was his to lose.

the sarah bashing isn't even in high gear yet.  there are always books written about failed presidential campaigns, especially "history making" failed presidential campaigns.  there will be more knives in her back by june than you can count.

one of my fiends had a great idea about her future and the stevens situation.  after he is expelled from the senate, she shouldn't appoint herself to his seat as an interim senator (and that is a complex subject all by itself), since that would cause an uproar, but she could run in the special election, perhaps even resigning the governor's office in order to do so.  the Lt. Governor is not only a republican, but apparently a solid conservative himself.  (in fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him run for steven's seat if Sarah doesn't).

that way she would earn the senate seat by democratic election.  in 2012, she would have several year experience as a governor, and 4 years experience in the senate.  THEN watch the MSM try to stop her.

Part of the problem is that Mccain brought in that pit bull as a VP candidate, then put on a leash and slapped a muzzle on her.  He should have just turned her loose, as she was way more popular than he was.

It's entirely possible that McCain ripped ALL of 'em a new asshole before shitcanning the whole enchilada. They, in turn, decided to rip on the only person they could - Palin.

I will believe that ONLY if McCain comes out and publically denounces what is being said about her.

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) wins re-election but due to legal problems resigns from office. Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) appoints herself to fill Stevens remaining term in office. Sen. Palin(R-AK) runs for President in 2013

by alaska law, they have to conduct a special election to fill a senate vacancy.  but there is no law that says that she can't run in it.  she'd win in a walk.

Sarah Palin is going to be groomed the next two years by the RNC.   She will be used for fundraising, and will bring in significant funds for the party.

The Sarah Palin you see in 2010, when the presidential campaign roles out, will be a more lethal one.

Good for her.   I'll be watching.

Agreed. She's already been through the muckraking and the shit-slinging by the Dems, MSM, and disaffected staffers of McCain's campaign.

She's weathered all that exceptionally well.

It's all downhill from here.

There's one thing that she's gotta work on, though. Her voice. Like Hillary's, it tends to be shrill and strident. That tends to piss off listeners (me, anyway). She can impart excitement and galvanize people by keeping a short, staccato delivery that reveals a pretty sharp wit.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Quote
Sarah Palin - 'I Haven't Always Just Toed the Line'
The GOP's vice-presidential pick says she'd work on energy, government reform and special-needs kids in the White House

By KIMBERLEY A. STRASSEL

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Ask Sarah Palin what she has found most surprising about her campaign experience and she replies, with more than a touch of humility, "the enthusiasm." She's got a point.

Wending my way through the traffic and crowds around the Palin event in this small river city on Thursday morning, I began to wonder if the whole state hadn't shown up. Walking the cold half-hour from the nearest parking space, I passed mobs of disappointed voters who had already been turned away for lack of space. Inside the city's Show Me Center, thousands of roaring, stomping, sign-waving Palin fans were practically hanging from the rafters. It felt like, well . . . an Obama rally.

And there you have the paradox of Sarah Palin. The press has brutalized the Alaska governor, playing gotcha with her record, digging through her family life. The liberal intelligentsia has declared her unfit for office, a rube, a right-wing maniac. The conservative intelligentsia has accused her of being a lightweight, of "anti-intellectualism." Polls suggest a significant number of voters believe she is not up for the job.
Yet her supporters idolize her -- all the more because of the criticism. Mrs. Palin has, for millions of Americans, become a symbol of a reformist average Jane, a working mom, ready to take on the Washington they detest. Talking to Missourians before the event, I heard little mention of flashpoint issues like her religious views, or her experience. I was instead repeatedly, and vociferously, informed that a Vice President Palin would "fix that place" and "shape up the GOP." I also heard a lot about how she would accomplish all this because she was a "real" person.

The governor is one of those politicians with the gift of connecting with her audience, a trait that surely has helped with her quick political rise. "I'm so glad you're here!" she said as I walked in to the holding room, with such warmth I wondered if she might actually mean it. As in her staged events, she comes across in person as confident.

The tasks of "fixing" Washington and "shaping up" the GOP are no small things, whether from inside the West Wing, or depending on Tuesday, from some future role as a party leader. And so, after a firm handshake and an introduction to First Dude Todd, I ask the governor if we could forgo the stump speech and talk about her contribution to this ticket, and the future of the party. Why, exactly, are Republicans as a whole struggling so badly? Are the liberal pundits right that modern conservatism has run its course?

"The planks in the Republican platform are good, they are strong. Economically speaking, Republicans support a uniquely American system that rewards hard work and empowers the entrepreneurial spirit that made this country the greatest country on earth. And on the national security front . . . it is about strength through power, it is about diplomacy across this world, allowing America to lead us toward a more peaceful world. On those planks -- economic and national security -- the Republican Party has the right agenda."

The problem, she explains, is a failure to deliver. "We must prove to the American people that we will live out the ideals and the values articulated in that platform." She says that "in too many cases" the GOP has let voters down, in particular on spending and with the abuse of earmarking. She argues the most effective way to revamp the party is from the top, by putting her ticket in the Oval Office, where it will enforce discipline. "We have a track record that proves we can reform government. And ultimately, that will reform the Republican Party."

Emphasis is mine.

Rasmussen: 69% of GOP Voters Say Palin Helped McCain

Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Republican voters say Alaska Governor Sarah Palin helped John McCain’s bid for the presidency, even as news reports surface that some McCain staffers think she was a liability.

Only 20% of GOP voters say Palin hurt the party’s ticket, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Six percent (6%) say she had no impact, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Ninety-one percent (91%) of Republicans have a favorable view of Palin, including 65% who say their view is Very Favorable. Only eight percent (8%) have an unfavorable view of her, including three percent (3%) Very Unfavorable.

When asked to choose among some of the GOP’s top names for their choice for the party’s 2012 presidential nominee, 64% say Palin. The next closest contenders are two former governors and unsuccessful challengers for the presidential nomination this year -- Mike Huckabee of Arkansas with 12% support and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts with 11%.

Three other sitting governors – Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Charlie Crist of Florida and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota – all pull low single-digit support.

As much respect as I have for John McCain the POW hero, I cringed when I knew he was going to be the nominee.  But, on the day after the Barackopolis speech, when I flipped on Fox & Friends and saw the line, "New Name Appears:  Sarah Palin," I knew that if not this cycle, Gov. Palin would be living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue the next one.  It's pretty much the same class of feeling I felt after seeing Barack Obama deliver the 2004 DNC keynote address.  Then, I knew that we'd see him again, but it wouldn't be for good.  I know that we'll be seeing Gov. Palin again, and this time, it will be for good.

I heard that there's more than a few pundits that have been saying that whoever won, he'd probably be the last President from that party for 16 to 20 years, with the economic crisis warming up (the Big Three automakers are asking for $50 billion more in loans now), and now that the Dems comtrol the Senate, the House, and the Oval Office, their blood will be deep.  Couple that with the Dem predisposal against national security, as evidenced by their resistence to anything that President Bush wanted to do in the GWOT, and one can expect a massive terrorist attack or two to happen next year.  Remember that al Qaeda came after Clinton within three months, and GWB in eight months.

The pendulum always swings back.
