Last night, a black man called me his brother.

He was sitting next to me at my favorite little watering hole. It's a little Italian place that is walking distance from my house, and because my place is scary-lonely since the "divorce", I find myself taking solace in the comfort of this little social gathering place. Anyway, this young guy comes in and sits at the bar next to me, and before I know it were talking about life and careers, and inevitably politics. Turns out that this guy is dating one of the waitresses in the restaurant who I know quite well, and I'm very happy for them. So we start talking about Obama, cause I can't not talk about him wherever I go. I told this guy that I was so glad that we were going to finally elect a brilliant leader as our next president, and something happened. Mid-sentence, uncontrollable tears of joy started streaming down my face. I felt embarrassed at first then I looked over at this kid, Chris, and the same thing was happening to him. He started shaking my hand and he said, "I know brother"! His girlfriend came over and asked if we knew each other. Chris said, "We do now, this is Alex, and he's my brother, he's good people". Chris was not a "black guy", and I was not a "white guy", we were just people. I truly believe that this is the power that Barack Obama is awakening in all of us, and that is making me a much happier person lately.

The ad to the side was funnier than hell.  It was all about interracial dating!

Can't you just feel the love?   :-)

Couple of weeks ago a black woman handed me my McCain/Palin sign and stickers at the Columbia County Republican HQ.  :nutkick:

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Boy this is right up there with "I have black people for friends." :lmao:

I managed to befriend, you know, *whispers* black peeps without having to reveal to them either my voting preference or without getting their seal of approval first. Works with my white friends too. Imagine that!  :thatsright: :lmao:

I can't help but think on the inside the black dude was laughing at this crybaby of a white guy.  I'm a white girl and I would have been. :lmao:

I dunno.

A lot of black men--and even black women--have called franksolich "brother."

I don't think it has anything to do with politics; I think it has all to do with being an ethnic, cultural, or social minority in general society, and it's all good.

From the quote marks around divorce, it sounds like the dude is gay.  The tale is missing a straight, white conservative male for full bouncy consideration.

It seems that before Dem nominee Il Duce came onto the scene, the green flying rodent pirimitive didn't view blacks as people.

I stopped reading at that point.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
