Oh my.

First, a financial critic, and then a media critic, and now a cinema critic.

Interesting timing re: the Powell endorsement. I saw "W." today.

Fortunately, I didn't have to pay for it. I did a bonding day with my 22 year old son and his wife, and after I took them to dinner he offered up some free passes he had. The movie was his choice, btw. I still can't decide whether or not I liked it, but all that's for another thread.

Relating to the subject line: Powell comes across as the only sympathetic character in the entire movie, beside Brolin's portrayal of the poor little boy with the Daddy issues. Consistently throughout the film, Powell tries to talk down the rest of the cabinet members. He's the only voice of reason.

And now, boom. He endorses Obama. I'm not for one second suggesting that anything was orchestrated. Only that the timing couldn't be better for all concerned (unless they're Republicans up for re-election). People who like Bush will see the movie and come away with their guy being essentially vindicated as a well-meaning visionary of global democracy. An endorsement by such a prominent Republican figure as Powell might sway some fence-sitters.

It might. I see that Powell's endorsement has turned off some DUers, to no one's surprise.

But think about every alternatives. Really think about it. Cynthia McKinney? Bob Barr? John McCain? Or Barack Obama? Come on now. Come ****ing on. Anyone who turns their back on Obama because of Powell's endorsement is, imho, seriously short-sighted.

1. Concensus seems to be "W" way off -- kind, in fact ---

I think we're actually turned on by the endorsement and don't understand your comments about that and certainly not your suggestion that a Powell endorsement would cause anyone to "turn their back on Obama"...? What could you be thinking?

On the other hand, I think many of us have reacted negatively to Skinner's proclamation that by this act Powell has "redeemed" himself --

That's the rub . . .

2. I thought Powell came off poorly in the movie because after trying to "talk them down" he turns around and goes along with the war. He's really worse than a true believer.

3. I guess I agree.

That's what is kind of weird. I still think he will come across as the only man of sound reasoning to the average viewer or the GOP-leaner. Which, you know...might actually help people accept voting for Obama. I'm not saying the movie was good. I thought it was a total white-wash, letting W off the hook by portraying him as just an affable ****-up who thought he was saving the world. I don't buy it for minute.

But again...I think it could help sway fence-sitters. Just sayin.

Now wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.

I thought the election was already in the bag for the Big Zero; why any concern the fence-sitters?

4. You forgot Nader
apres moi, le deluge

Milo Yiannopoulos "It has been obvious since 2016 that Trump carries an anointing of some kind. My American friends, are you so blind to reason, and deaf to Heaven? Can he do all this, and cannot get a crown? This man is your King. Coronate him, and watch every devil shriek, and every demon howl."

Interesting point, it seems Powell's little plan to carve out a place as National Security Advisor or SecDef may have backed into the premier of the Left's biggie propaganda hit piece, which was on the way to theaters by the time he threw off his cloak of invisibility and declared for The One.
