Secret Service says "Kill him" allegation unfounded
« on: October 16, 2008, 08:22:10 AM »
look, we can't let the facts get in the way.  the only way that the "all mccain supporters are racist scum" meme
gets any better is if "all mccain supporters are murdering racist scum".

it is rather striking that this is a new low for the MSM and their obeisance to The BarackStar!  now they are making
up the "facts" that they report.

Secret Service says "Kill him" allegation unfounded

SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.

The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Oabama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him."

News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.

Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.

“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.

He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.

How unusual - A story spread in part by Olbermann & mentioned by Obama isn't true.    :whatever:

Unfortunately, the mainstream media is still going with the story as though it did happen.

Right!  That's not news to us, but what about the rest of the people who treat the mainstream media as the Word of G_d?

Special Keith's lunacy made even my sister, the dyed-in-the-wool liberal, comment: "Seriously, Keith Olbermann's head is going to just explode someday."

Why the hell doesn't he just go back to calling balls and strikes? Well,he wasn't really very good at that either from what I remember.

it wasn't merely "mentioned" by The BarackStar!  it was an accusation made in a nationally televised debate.

it seems to me that there is a huge difference.

To you and other rational folks - but in MSM land it will be reduced to 'mentioned'

it's not just a lie.  this is a fundamentally different thing.  this is the MSM manufacturing a fictional event that obama picked up on and repeated as an accusation in a setting that was nationally significant, which then allowed the MSM to report on again with vastly increased emphasis, because it was brought up in such a critical forum.

this is a symbiotic propaganda relationship between the media and the people that the media are supposed to be viewing with a critical eye.  it's as though the umpire just put on a phillies uniform, and expects no one to notice*.  if this is what's happening, there is no way to win.  there just isn't.

*that one slipped out before I even realized it. :-)
