CLEVELAND - Volunteers supporting Barack Obama picked up hundreds of people at homeless shelters, soup kitchens and drug-rehab centers and drove them to a polling place yesterday on the last day that Ohioans could register and vote on the same day, almost no questions asked.

The huge effort by a pro-Obama group, Vote Today Ohio, takes advantage of a quirk in the state's elections laws that allows people to register and cast ballots at the same time without having to prove residency.

Republicans have argued that the window could lead to widespread voter fraud because officials wouldn't have an opportunity to verify registration information before ballots were cast.

Among the volunteers were Yori Stadlin and Vivian Lehrer of the Upper West Side, who got married last week and decided to spend their honeymoon shepherding voters to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.

Early today, Stadlin's van picked up William Woods, 59, at the soup kitchen of the Bishop Cosgrove Center.

"I never voted before," Woods said, because of a felony conviction that previously barred him from the polls. "Without this service, I would have had no way to get here."

I hope the GOP is prepared to challenge a in a few of these most aggravated places, it's the only way there is ever going to be a line drawn on this crap.  The alleged government oversight can't handle it in the run-up to the election and once the results are certified without a challenge there is no basis for them to do it afterwards.

This is getting me sicker and sicker. It's so frustrating to study the issues, try to vote intelligently, and then have the dregs of the earth bussed in to cast votes for the Annointed One. If he gets elected, there might be an uprising if thinking people figure out what happens. Even more frightening is the thought that the majority will be brainwashed into singing little Obama songs like those kids.

I'm starting to think that widespread OPEN voter fraud such as this - especially if DoJ does nothing about it/attempts to sweep it under the rug - will be the straw that puts a lot of us into the 'torches and pitchforks' political action committee.  I don't think the spineless wonders in Washington are going to be really excited to see us coming up The Mall.

the only reason they say the 2000 election was 'stolen' was because, since their efforts to steal it for AlGore FAILED, it must have been stolen more by the Republicans.

Ahhh, but then we'd get into the whole members of Congress being perp-walked for racketteering in association with ACORN under RICO.  Administration officials as well (at a sub-cabinet to maybe cabinet level).

Did I say it didn't matter?  No, I didn't.  All I stated was that is was pretty low.  Certainly lower than the expected turnout.

Secretary of State Ross Miller said the fraudulent registrations included  forms for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team.

Betcha CNN doesn't touch this.

Yeah, it's done on message boards, too. Those who are the biggest offenders are the biggest whiners, but try to give back 3x what they're given.

I always am careful about those who proclaim their purity so loudly. I always hold on to my wallet when a used car salesman proclaims his honesty. Have seen too much in my years of sales.
