A woman wearing a "47" gold embroidered ball cap...

and surgically enhanced “pouty lips” asked to meet my St Bernard dog and take her picture. I said NO. If you don’t share my values of common decency, I will not share my St Bernard with you. I protect my dogs from cruelty.

Come on now. Give the poor DUmbAss a break. It's a low post count idiot making up a story to try to get some DU street cred. While it's not really up to BouncyBall standards, I did like the creativity of adding in a more intelligent mammal (the dog) to the mix. You know that in real life the dog would be thinking "Please! Please! Rescue me from this leftwing lunatic!"

Lurking DUmmies, now that I think about it, a dog would be good to use in one of your made-up conversion fairy tales. In the fictional tale, you meet an "evil" Rethug with a dog companion, and you use your vast intellect to convert the dog to the lunatic way of life. Then have all of the watching dogs cheer the converted dog for finally seeing the light.

If one of my dogs doesn't like somebody, I know they are a bad person. Converse is true too. If they do like a person I am pretty sure that they are a good person.

I had a dog that made being a dad ridiculously easy. Damned near a "cheat code".

This dog bonded to my son the moment we went in to meet him, and wouldn't let any of the other dogs near him. When my son was in school, he would frequently bring home kids he went to school with as "new friends". If the kids were of "questionable character" the dog would position himself so he was always between my son and the other kid; no growling, baring teeth or other other signs of aggression, just make sure that the other kid had to go thru HIM to get to my boy.

No shame in admitting that I bawled like a baby when he developed renal failure and we had to put him down. I still miss that dog.

I feel for you. Ours passed in November of last year. He was a stray that my wife took in. He was with us for about 14 years and was one of the best AND most entertaining creatures that I've ever encountered. I cried when he went, and I still haven't gotten over him.
