The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office said Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan's leave will begin on Monday. A spokesperson for the attorney general's office said the incident remains under review and it's unclear how long the suspension might last.
Flanagan was arrested on the evening of Aug. 14 with a friend outside of a restaurant in Newport, and the whole incident was captured on police body camera footage.
During the incident outside the Clarke Cooke House, Flanagan can be heard telling officers she's "an AG" almost a dozen times. When she is placed in the back of a police cruiser, she tells the officer, "Buddy, you're going to regret this. you're going to regret it." She is also seen telling the officers to turn off their body cameras.
No Devon Flanagan, you are the one who is going to regret it!
